Soothsaying for Sixeen: Zach Wheeler

I was here before them all. I was here before deGrom, before Syndergaard, before Matz. I wasn't here before Harvey, but I could've been. And no one was here before Colon. But you get my meaning. My meaning is that I won't be forgot. I'm the price San Francisco paid for a few months of Carlos Beltran, and eventually, I intend to make that pay off.

But yeah, my elbow blowed up, and then the Mets blowed up. And now, the guy who back in 2013 first cracked a rotation of Niese/Harvey/Gee/Hefner/Marcum (MARCUM!) is trying to find his way back break into one of deGrom/Harvey/Syndergaard/Matz/Colon, and maybe some hot sexy Logan Verrett activity too.

So I'm doing my rehab work, changing my arm angle, dating girls who are healthy for me (take a note, all you Synderharveys out there), and just trying to do things right while watching UFC dudes bash each other senseless. Maybe I'll never be what I was. Maybe I'll be BETTER, but what with the Thor-manes and deGrom-tops, there's been a decided baldy factor missing from the Mets' rotation since Gee went into exile, and I intend to fill that void. I intend to fill it and more.

But baseball is hard to predict. Pitching is ephemeral. I just don't know. All this talk about arm angles and rehab schedules is just so... fluid. What's do you think is going to happen?

7-2 as a late season addition to the staff.
The fastball won't be fully restored to its pre-surgical velocity, but he'll have a decent post-op ERA of 3.65 with 7.6 K/IP.

"Mild Flexor (tendon) strain" - immediate remedy is to make him inactive for the next two weeks.
And while he's not officially out for the season, if there's not even going to be any throwing again until around Sept 1st ...

Basically what I have seen is Dr. Andrews didn't find anything "devastating" in the elbow. There are many many sensitive nerve endings where the surgery was done and they become irrated.

Maybe Zack has to pitch through that discomfort and convince himself the elbow will not pop.

I thought I sooth-sayed in all the threads, guess I missed this one.
I would have been so wrong.
