Couldn't find the old thread. Maybe it got archived. Or maybe our already wanting search mechanism is failing along with our editing buttons.

Lot's of other good stuff in there too, though, about gender and how scouting isn't dying but evolving (which also should have been obvious, but was lost to our third-way-averse culture's too-often binary way of looking at an issue). There's a lot of good quantifying on the subject of quantifying.[/*:m][/list:u]

The FiveThirtyEight piece is excellent.

Faith and Fear in Flushing endures uncooperative scanners, frigid winds, a Hamilton who temporarily steals the show, Yalta-length mound conferences and a paucity of expectations, yet comes away from Citi Field humming the scenery.

If you want to kill some time while waiting for the game you can re-live April. These are all the 2016 mfc cards from January to the end of April.

The SAME!

Sneak peek. This don't go out til game time.

On mfc supersize cards, they are the same size as regular cards,
but the photo used is too big and spills out past the border. These are gonna be a bitch to print.

I was trying to point out this:

Which is a spoofy mock up of me taking this fantasy pic.

Some guy was sharing one of my cards on fb. They pop up quite a bit and I kinda wish the folks posting them would include that it's a fake card. The last thing I want is some Mets collector searching all over for a card that doesn't exist. The newer cards have the MFC in place of Topps, but the older ones are like the older cards. No company logo. I've seen people comment on one of my cards posted: I had that card when I was a kid. That gives me a chuckle. But if folks said they were fake up front, I just think it would be better. I mentioned it once though, and I'm not going to force folks to do stuff.

Today someone posted one of my cards and a comment was : "Is that a real card?" and the posters response was," No, that's a fantasy card."
I was like, wow, he didn't call it a fake card. He called it a fantasy card. Kinda kool.

I don't expect folks to pick up on these wacky things. That's mostly for my amusement and more so my brothers because I will point it out to them. There must be at least 20 crazy things in that....is that a mural? In the field shot you can find the Rose/Harrelson fight, the Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars ( Mr. Jones was on that team), the Mooninites, and even my son Chris.

I used almost every cutout I had of a person standing. And sitting (Casey). And falling! (Mex) What a mess that is. But I imagine that an MFC commercial would be a wacky mess just like that.

Damn. I forgot all about him. He's got a folder all his own and I haven't gone into it for years. Lol, haven't even looked at that stuff for years.
This was funny, I enjoyed doing Big Mets Guy. You should see the outline I had for that story. I should do one off comics w/him. I had Zombie Bill Shea (b4 zombies were the in thing IIRC) rising from his grave

Very kool. I know if I was a kid and saw me on a card I would have been so excited. I've always done that kind of stuff.

Look at this. This was for a childhood friend who was on my CYO baseball team. And no graphic programs when I made this. This was drawn by hand in 1978.

[fimg=200]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F93CtpSgHuw/VzzDJ7FZDXI/AAAAAAAAoAw/rS3QjlbcqSg-7pdJujS5R-7LuzJdlI98gCCo/s640/MP72ToppsBBcard.bmp[/fimg]

man, I haven't thought of this card for years. So I've been making cards since 1978!

So you're Liam. I know I've friended many from here (or I was friended by) on fb but I can't say for sure who's who. And I've decided it's not my fault. You guys keep changing your names. I knew who K.C. was, but I didn't know he was dkong. I saw someone call him Jason once and I thought, oh, that must be Jason Fry. So for like 3 years I thought he was Fry, lol. And every once in awhile I thought, whatever happened to that K.C. guy?

Stop changing your names. I've been Zvon since I arrived on the web in 1998. Everywhere I go (I do kinda regret not using my real name on fb tho, but all my friends did find me) I'm Zvon, dammit. ;)

You're off the hook Willets, cause I think you've been Mets Willets Point like 94% of the time.

Cerrone's dad passed away on Monday after a brief lung cancer battle.

This could explain why his blog posts have been slightly more pessimistic than usual about the Mets early this season.

RIP

I particularly proud of this one because I didn't know I was going to make it until I saw MGIM post this:

And right away I knew I had to give Harvey the Frank Miller's Dark Knight treatment.
This is an mfc Pocket Poster, the 3rd for Matt Harvey so far.

Re: Blogs and the Blogging Bloggers Who Blog Them 2016

The Shea Bridge Report is the product of a 19-year-old blogging prodigy named James Schapiro. This homage to his affection for David Wright is a classic of the genre.

Don't give up on a ball, even if it's in the stands or behind you to your barehand side. Get down and ready before every pitch, and field every ball carefully. Don't chase pitches out of the strike zone; a walk is just fine. Run everything out. Be smart. Work hard; do whatever it takes to get out on that field.

And again, equally off the field: be nice. be respectful. Set an example. Be a leader. Play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back. Keep out of trouble. Use your influence as a sports star to create positive change. Don't shirk responsibility, give credit where credit is due, and don't be afraid to let your emotions show.

You could assemble a player in a video game, with every positive asset turned up to the max and all character negatives minimized or eliminated. Or, you could just watch David Wright play.

CAPTION THIS CARD!
