20 Home Runs

What's the record for most 20 HR guys on a single Mets team?

We have a legitimate shot to have 7 guys reach that mark this year.

Re: 20 Home Runs

I was curious and have some time on my hands this morning, so I ground this one out by going through the seasons on bbref and found 1987 (Carter, HoJo, McReynolds, Strawberry) and 2000 (Ventura, Fonz, Zeile, Piazza) tied with 4. I didn't bother clicking on teams earlier than 1980, except for a couple of mid-70s teams and the 1969 team, since even the good Met teams back then didn't do much slugging.

neither Reyes or Valentin.

Chad Ochoseis has it, though he could've used a play-index to minimize the manual labor

I now know how I'm going to be wasting the next couple of hundred waking hours of my life.

2006 would have been my first guess, too, but Valentin had 18 and Reyes had 19.

Re: 20 Home Runs

Likelihood of hitting 20:

Cespedes 90%
Duda 75%
Granderson 68%
Conforto 63%
Walker 61%
Wright 58%
d'Arnaud 41%
Cabrera 26%
Flores 19%
De Aza 9%
Lagares 7%
Plawecki 2%
Campbell 1%
Bernadina 1%

Re: 20 Home Runs

In other NYM HR news:

- Neil Walker's next HR will be the 100th of his career.
There's quite a little log-jam around that number on the roster right now: Walker = 99; Cabrera = 102; Duda = 103; Cespedes = 110, although obviously only Duda hit them all as a Met.

- David is now 15 HRs short of tying Straw for the NYM career record (252).
The partial seasons he's had over the last few years have pushed him getting the record past where it could have been, but now 17 for the season certainly seems doable.

Re: 20 Home Runs

Giving this thread a bump. With 22 games left to play, four more KABOOMs from Wilmer and one more from Cabrera would give the Mets their first ever season with 5 players with 20 or more.

I'm counting on 19 more from Colón.

Not a bad bet, as he'll probably play until the seas run red and the Horsemen ride.
