Guy looks like he can play a little. Right field? Left? Center? No sweat. Couple hits and a walk? Can do.

If he signed with the Mets thinking he was going to play every day, or at least platoon with Lagares, then he's being damn nice about having to ride the bench. I respect that a lot. Is it possible they warned him they were still going after a bigger name?

Can run. Has some pop.

Such an improvement over the crap that was on the first half 2015 bench.

Yeah, he's a touch better than Darrell Ceciliani.

At the time the signed him, no one in the world though they could get Cespedes, and they didn't sign Yoenis until a month later.

I think the potential for a postseason share makes it much easier to ride the bench.

I didn't think it was likely, but I certainly thought it was firmly ensconced in the realm of possibility.

Plus, it's not like he was promised a starting position. He was going to be a part-time player anyway. He's just more part-timier than he might have imagined.

But not a strong possibility. Around here, people were thinking that Yoenis was gone at that point, and it wasn't until three weeks later that reports started leaking out that he might be interested in re-signing.

Looking at the fifth outfielders around the division — Matt den Dekker, Tyler Goeddel, Ichiro Suzuki and Jeff Francoeur — I'm giving the Mets the decided edge in this category.
