Re: The All-New Refreshing Beer Thread

Drinking Brooklyn Brewery's improved Old Fashioned. (One of my favorite cocktails) It's pretty spot on imo. Lots of whiskey flavor.

unrelated to that, I took the BJCP tasting exam (Beer Judge Certification Program) thought I won't hear the results for a few months. (might) qualify me to judge homebrew competitions and whatnot. Was good fun, learned a lot and got to practice tasting a bunch too.

No better way to celebrate a sweep of Milwaukee than by going old school:

A Pabst Old Tankard Ale and grilling steaks. The Old Tankard is surprisingly good; a little bite to it, but smooth enough for hot summer gulping.

Passed my BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) tasting exam and am not a recognized beer judge, which doesn't actually mean much except that I can judge homebrew competitions.

That's pretty cool, do you get credentials? Would be fun to be able to whip out
some id at a bar and tell the waitress a beer is good or it sucks haha.

lol, no. That'd be more along the lines of the Cicerone program probably.

Re: The All-New Refreshing Beer Thread

My little bro lives in Germany and he recently smuggled some Westvleteren 12 our way from Belgium. Best beer in the world? I don't now, it's hard to drink a beer all normal with the weight of expectations and extreme scarcity of the product. Super complex, creamier and more alcohol-y than I expected, with deep, dark fruits.

We backed it up with the St. Bernardus 12 and the latter was easier to drink, but getting to drink the Westy was a real pleasure, man.

Business Insider on Westy 12 -> http://www.businessinsider.com/best-bee ... ii-2014-12

My bro is a champ and sent us glasses along with the beers:

Mmm... beer.

If you get the shot, call ahead! My bro and his wife did for a few weeks before they even got a human on the phone to make arrangements.

I don't drink this stuff but I am LOLLing.

Background: You may recall they recently "retired" the original MIMITW actor in this series by sending him to Mars (irl, they had contract disputes and there was talk they needed to appeal to a younger demo).

I drink the amber sometimes when I'm strapped for options (Though usually in those types of places i just drink tequila)

Interesting. I don't think the original guy ever spoke much besides the tagline unless I missed some. Seem to be switching to a more James Bond sauve type thing.
