Modest goal: We need to win this series. Haven't done that in 4 serieses. That's how you go from 1st place to 3rd.

A visit from Bill would be nice around 4:30 Sunday. No pressure.

Sorry about your back Kase.

it's these things we use to pay for goods. We need to take some aggression out on baseballs thrown by Brewers.

That nice gentleman that brings the brooms after a sweep!

If they sweep the Brewers, I'll go without beer for a week.

Look also at Doodoo getting hosed behind Walker. I think we're gonna hafta call for Dilson Hererra and play him or Walker at 3rd base if this gones on for much longer. Meantime get Wright a first baseman's glove and make him Doodoo's platooner.

One only hopes that the David to 1B story -- even on an occasional or experimental basis -- doesn't involve quite as much drama as the whole Piazza saga did.

I guess this can wait till Flores gets back. But he needs to hit too, consarnit.

David Wright -- the Next Eric Campbell!

I'm guessing that he's closer to the disabled list than first base.

Zvon May 20 2016 04:07 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
I think it's gonna be no night games the night before a day game. Or in CPF lingo, no gight names the night before a gay dame.
|
Ashie62 May 20 2016 04:24 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
David Wright is on a pitch count.
|
Edgy MD May 20 2016 05:58 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
|
This doesn't add up to me. I mean, if the challenge of playing is the two hours or so of stretching beforehand, wouldn't it make more sense to rest him during the actual day DGaaNGs, when there is less preparation time?
|
Mets Guy in Michigan May 20 2016 06:43 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
It's not nice, but I gotta say it. Eric Campbell is awful.
|
Ashie62 May 20 2016 06:45 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Plenty of preparation time in PSL.
|
Ashie62 May 20 2016 06:47 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
2-1 Brewers bottom 2. Grandy up with 2 outs and risp.
|
Frayed Knot May 20 2016 06:49 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Met bats hit the ball a lot harder in the 1st inning than they did in the 2nd - but at least they got one back.
|
Zvon May 20 2016 06:50 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |

Not if David prefers playing gay dames. I guess. Maybe I shouldn't use the lingo for that one.

David is on record as preferring night games I think. but if he's struggling with pain/stiffness, rest him as much as possible against the brewers.
|
Zvon May 20 2016 07:15 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Eww, Campbell getting booed for striking out. Well, it was only one guy. And it was Campy's 2nd K. But tsk, tsk, you don't kick a Met when he's down.

That's a lot of baserunners allowed by old friend Carlos T. (21 hits + 12 walks in 21 innings ... now 21-1/3)

Edgy MD May 20 2016 08:22 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
You know, if the team is willing to pursue an edge enough to have everybody in the bullpen throwing the quick pitch, all the more reason bunting for base hits should be back de table.
|
Frayed Knot May 20 2016 08:23 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Addison Reed has not only been pretty good most of this year, but he's very efficient most of the time too.
|
Edgy MD May 20 2016 08:29 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Pretty on top of things for somebody who was reputed not to have the mental game down before he got here.

Fman99 May 20 2016 08:30 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
I have no memories of Capuano in a Mets uniform. Not a one.
|
Fman99 May 20 2016 08:34 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Campbell, like Rudy Stein, probably best able to serve his team by leaning into one now and then.
|
Zvon May 20 2016 08:34 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
|
I don't see the correlation. I'm not a fan of the quick pitch. I am a fan of small ball. I'm a fan of any kind of baseball. I don't know that we should be saying we are only a home run hitting team. This team shouldn't have to live up to that. This team should be able to shift gears to small ball when dictated. So I wish TC would stop saying we live by the homer.

I kinda don't either, but I don't think he had that lumberjack-thing going on that is so popular these days with pitchers.

A little more hitting (and a bit more luck) would have been nice, but this sure beats the hell out of 3-1/2 hour long walk-a-thons we've been suffering through lately.

A gold glove game by Eric Campbell.
|
Zvon May 20 2016 09:30 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
Steven Matz is the first player in #Mets history to win 10 of his first 11 major league decisions.

Pitched not only one of the greatest statistical games pitched by any Met at any time, but did so with a hurricane bearing down on Citi Field. Yet I agree that overall he was pretty unmemorable.
|
Edgy MD May 21 2016 01:50 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
That was a Friday game and the weather knocked out Saturday and Sunday. I wonder how much that was the Braves playing let's-get-outta-here-ball.
|
G-Fafif May 22 2016 01:06 PM Re: IGT 05/20 - Brewers at Metropolitans |
The Braves lost the Wild Card by one game in 2011, famously collapsing down the stretch until they were overtaken on the final night of the season. Perhaps they should've taken the forgettable Mr. Capuano more seriously, Irene or not.
