1:10 start (WAKE UP EVERYONE!!). Any rain in the area looks likely to exit prior to game time. Matt Harvey (you may have heard of him) vs Jose Quintana (who may be the best pitcher you've not heard of) Quintana, a 27 y/o Columbian lefty (yes, another lefty) is in his fifth season with the south-side Chicagoans. Currently 5-4 but with a 2.22 ERA; a 1.015 WHiP; 60 K / 12 BB (funny how a K/BB ratio of ONLY 5-to-1 looks like nothing special compared to last night) His stats were even better up until his last two starts where he gave up 3 and 4 runs; prior to that his earned runs allowed had been a string of zeros, ones, and twos. Basically the White Sox are a bit below the AL average in run scoring this season but second best (behind only Seattle) in run preventing. We need to know more about them.

Curtis Granderson went 2-for-4 Sunday to raise his average to .208 and has hit for the cycle over his last three games, going 4-for-12 in that span. TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, CSN Chicago, SNY (New York) PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Jose Quintana (5-4, 2.22 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (3-7, 6.08) Quintana looks to halt a losing streak that reached three starts when he allowed three runs and five hits in six innings against Cleveland on Wednesday. It marked the second straight outing in which the 27-year-old Colombian yielded three or more earned runs after giving up two or fewer in each of his first eight turns. Quintana, who never has faced New York, has posted a 2.05 ERA in five road starts this season but has just a 2-2 record. Harvey also has lost his last three starts, but in a much uglier fashion as he has surrendered 19 runs — 16 earned — and 27 hits over 13 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old native of Connecticut lasted only 2 2/3 frames in his last outing at home on May 19, when he yielded nine runs — six earned — and eight hits in the first of two straight losses to Washington. Harvey was brilliant in his lone career start against the White Sox, striking out 12 without issuing a walk during a one-hit shutout in Chicago on May 17, 2013. WALK-OFFS: 1. Mets LF Yoenis Cespedes is 9-for-15 (.600) with four homers and 10 RBIs in his career against Quintana. 2. Chicago C Dioner Navarro recorded a stolen base on Sunday — his first since 2014 with Toronto and fourth since notching a career-high five in 2009 with Tampa Bay. 3. New York INF Wilmer Flores (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list Sunday and went 0-for-3 while starting at third base for David Wright, who is battling neck inflammation, and SS Matt Reynolds was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

I guess growing up, since he was such a good athlete, they didn't have him doing that in Little League even when he was pitching. And maybe they should have. Harvey is looking fine, like 2013 Harvey. I would have gone to Conforto there. The Sox have 3 LHRs in their pen so, on the idea that you're 'saving' Conforto for later when there's not a lefty on the mound, there almost certainly will be one on the mound the second Conforto was announced into the game.

As was mentioned on twitter. I have no idea what's going on there. I figured MLB was a reliable source. That's why one needs to think first before simply re-tweeting previous twits. A quick glance at that should have indicated the age of that tweet because Cabrera isn't on the Giants because he's on the field right in front of us!!

OK, another 8-pitch perfect inning from Reed. Considering that, plus how bad Familia's been lately, how much Familia threw last night, and that the pitcher's slot isn't likely to come up in this inning ... I'd send Reed back out there for the 9th/save.

oooof. I would have given Familia a breather today. I go to the school of "throw him back out there" but.... not today. Three bad ones in a row is too much to risk. But this is a one run game and TC feels you have to use him. I guess. This is a save situation so let's see if it makes him any sharper..

Due to weekend plans, I had gone without Mets baseball for over 36 hours! This was a good one to come back to. Harvey looked multitudes better than any other outing this season to me.

Same here, I was with my daughter at a soccer tournament in Massachusetts and not able to watch much of the Dodger series at all. Kept up with scores and controversies though. Nice to see Harvey get a good one under his belt, I'm guessing that will do something for his kahn-fidence. Some of the body language from Rivera when Harvey was in there was almost comical to watch. He was fist-pumping, hand-waving, and just generally pumping and exhorting the Harvelous one while trying to will him to his first good outing of the year. You can't figure Rivera is long for this roster if/when both d'Arnaud & Plawecki are actually ever healthy at the same time. But having a top-notch defensive catcher and pitcher-handler is a cool and comforting luxury, a position that's probably been the biggest casualty of the numbers game in this era of expanded bullpens.

It was true... four years ago. He, of course, hasn't even been a "Giants outfielder" since then. He's spent two years with the Jays since then and is in his second year with the White Sox. I think Zvon submitted that post four years ago and the software just let it through today.

I went back to get the actual tweet and seems it was pulled. I hardly read it while transferring it here. I was too busy reading all the Mets stuff (I really don't give a shit about non-Mets stuff during the game & I gloss over it). Saw Cabrera's name in the tweet but thought it was another. I'm just popping back and forth trying to share stuff from there and saw "BREAKING NEWS". Even the post under it said "old news" but I was a poppin' and a postin' and figured I'd share it. Sorry, I won't do that anymore.
