IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey
Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 03:05 PM |
Traded for Uribe or Kelly (because one is never sure in these situations), 2011 21st-rounder John Gant has the extra incentive of pitching against the team that dealt him off. But he also has the demoralizing weight on his soul that comes with realizing you are a 2016 Brave. These two things have to balance themselves out. So tonight is about hoping the offensive resurgence holds and Matt Harvey stays on his game. The Braves are the Braves.

I think you mean "6/17" and "Harvey" not "6/16" and "Colon"

I totally didn't copy and paste yesterday's game to start this thread, and I totally didn't just edit this, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Anyone hear anything further about Wilmer?

Looks like he's getting a couple of days off.

I heard he really likes deGrom's hair.

Just asking, some people are more tuned in than I am.

Who doesn't like deGrom's hair? Even Thor concedes its superiority to his own.

Wilmer available for pinch-hitting. Supposedly close to returning to the lineup.

Gant does that Seaver thing where he starts and stops and starts again sometimes with no runners on base.

Thought Grandy would catch up to that.
|
Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 06:54 PM Re: Vegas in Twenty Sixteen |
I didn't think Grandy was going to catch that.

Harvey gets his third successful sacrifice of the season. I'd've guessed first in about two years.

Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 07:11 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |

I would have guessed it was the first for the team in two years. Meanwhile, Braves are 3 for 7 w/RiSP, Mets are 0 for 4

Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 07:48 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
Nothing like a leadoff double followed by 15 straight batters making contact that acted as if hit by a wet rolled-up newspaper. Those ABs which result in shallow, lazy-ass fly-outs seem like progress.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 07:56 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
And yet another mighty 2-out/RiSP at bat that almost reached 2nd base on seven hops.

Ashie62 Jun 17 2016 08:17 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
This is unwatchable.
|
Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 08:31 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
A very watchable bases-loaded situation happening.
|
Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 08:32 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
This is the spot of the game, right here. If they counter with a lefty (Dario?!) against De Aza, I would switch to Wilmer.

Here we go

Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 08:33 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
The walk was the best possible outcome I was expecting from Plawecki.
|
Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 08:33 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
Yup. Flores comes up against Exene.
|

That didn't take long.

Edgy MD Jun 17 2016 08:35 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
That was kwick.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 08:37 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
Gant was pulled after 6 plus and the Mets are trying to get to the pen. Bases loaded, 2 outs. 7th.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 17 2016 08:42 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
shitfuck.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 08:43 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
So this is the Braves who score EVERY SINGLE LEADOFF WALK they got tonight and cash in EVERY SINGLE RUNNER who reaches 2nd base.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 08:52 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
I can't predict a Fkn Frdy Frmn RBI and not also predict a Mets comeback. So I officially say I feel a comeback coming on.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 08:55 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
There we go, a rally-crushing GiDP following the rare leadoff baserunner was the only piece of shit this game was missing.
|

C'mon, you goobers, get a hit for fuck's sake.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 09:01 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
A three-hit inning and yet no one even reaches 3rd base much less scores.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 09:02 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
We can't be pissed at Cabrera though. He has come through much more than not. This comeback is not over yet. Or maybe it hasn't yet begun. Two on, two out.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 09:03 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
Maybe Conforto should take off tomorrow and go fishing.
|
d'Kong76 Jun 17 2016 09:04 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
So much for visions of Confortobooms dancing through my head.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 17 2016 09:06 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
Think the Braves are going to strand these two?

Zvon Jun 17 2016 09:14 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |

It would not bode well for my prediction. Big K Blevins! Two down. Robles comes on.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 09:21 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
I saw Plawecki's last at-bat. The 3-1 fastball. He had to know it was coming. He was overmatched. Did you see his expression? He knew it. The game (at this level) is moving too fast for him right now.

Ugly ending there. That's an Utleytastic move by Loney.

Loney likes the groin.

There's something to this. You watch enough, and you get to know where all of your batters like it. Not so much Plawecki. He gets ahead 3-1, and I don't know what he's looking for or where he's looking for it.
|
Zvon Jun 17 2016 09:36 PM Re: IGT 06/17: ATL@NYM, Gant@Harvey |
ahhhhhhhhhhhahahaha. That's a new way to lose.

The second strike he took in the 9th. In that situation you cannot be just looking at that pitch. It was a perfect pitch to shoot out to right. That was the one to hit. He himself says he thinks his decision making has not been good. I'm going to have to agree. Regardless, if he can't catch up to that 3-1 pitch earlier, he's not up to speed. Unless he decided to swing late and miss it by half a foot. Could be just a string of bad days, but Plaw hasn't looked fresh for a month now. He's getting days off so he shouldn't look so tuckered out. We hear it said all the time. Plawecki needs to slow the game down.
