Not to suggest his hitting this season has earned it but I don;t think plopping d'Arnaud in the 8 hole is doing anything to get him going. I've said this before but he seems like No. 2 hitter to me, at least when he's right.

I'm just hoping that the Mets out-score Messi tonight. I put the odds at about 50/50

I don't think we know if he'll be out, but for now, the number six starter is Sean Gilmartin.

So they call up a long guy who just pitched Sunday and isn't available? And their starter goes out after 4 pitches? Well, alrighty then.

Robles bails on the change-up away, but he's got a nice cut.

I appreciate trying to get him a win, but Terry might have tried to get too much milk out of this cow.

Mets are only allowed to hit solo home runs. Asdruboom was the other.

The five-inning rule doesn't apply to Hansel as he's not the starter here and is the pitcher of record as long as the Mets hold onto the lead.

Uncharacteristically low strikeout numbers (2) for Mets batters tonight. Instead, a lot of warning track flies.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 21 2016 08:35 PM Re: IGT 6/21/16: KCR@NYM -- 60 ft. 6 in. 8 mos. |
Yeah, lotsa fly outs tonight. Which beats Sunday when there were lots of [u:ut2tzylp]Infield[/u:ut2tzylp] pop-ups for outs, but only slightly.

Yep, seriously good work by the pen. Note that that coincides with Bastardo not being used.

Somehow, Céspedes' homer in the fourth kept slipping Gary's mind in the top of the fifth, and all through the Royals' rally, he kept referring to the lead runner as "the tying run." Even as he scored, Gary declared the game tied, before finally correcting himself, likely at the muted prompting of one of his colleagues.

I also wanted to mention that d'Arnauds cut down @ 2nd on the attempted SB was very nice to see. That was also a bullet.
