I like left field at Nats Park. Puts you near the promenade.

I saw Giolito pitch against the Mets in PSL--six up, six down (like that's an accomplishment against the Mets most nights).

I declare tonight a BIG GAME.

Yeah, it may be stating the obvious, but how the Mets fare in these two weeks leading up to the AS break could make or break their season.

The team has sucked since I took the auto-KABOOM! programming out of the back end.

Must be nice to be able to write in the same lineup every night. As far as I can tell, Ben Revere is the only position player they've had to put on the DL this year - basically for the first month of the season. Other than that, every regular is at or is approaching 300 ABs.

Rain coming down pretty hard there atm. They say no end in sight.

And it sounds bitchy to whine about it, especially seeing as how the Nats are currently without Strasberg & Papelbon. But when I see a lineup that stays virtually the same every night, where the only off days are scheduled rest days, and the number of different #3 & #4 hitters thru nearly 1/2 season are 2 & 3 rather than our 6 & 7, I catch myself wondering what that must be like; it's a version of reality with which I am not familiar. 8 o'clock start time is the current estimate

Hey here's a good idea, let's see if Harvey can get up to 75 pitches by the 3rd inning just like Syndy did last night!!!

Frayed Knot Jun 28 2016 07:46 PM Re: Mets @ Natz, 6/28 (IGT #76) |
Looks like that leadoff single by Grandy filled the team's quota for the night.

It shouldn't matter all that much that your first baseman is pretty slow, but it does and ours is.

Edgy MD Jun 28 2016 08:05 PM Re: Mets @ Natz, 6/28 (IGT #76) |
d'Arnaud is nobody's fool, and he'll be a perfectly capable big league thrower from behind the plate.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 28 2016 08:11 PM Re: Mets @ Natz, 6/28 (IGT #76) |
And when given the gift of an erased baserunner, Harvey repays his team by putting the next two batters on.

Report from the Other Place: For having the stuff to wait out the rain delay, Lunchpail got himself an autographed pearl from Hansel Robles.

So, down 3-0, and (the ever-healthy) Grandy, who crashed into a fence earlier, is out of the game.

And that inning even had a hit with a RiSP ... but it still didn't score a run because we don't do that.

The following inning we got the two-out hit. Of course there was nobody on at that point.

I think the only conclusion you can come to is that most hitters simply don't care about triples anymore.

Nats have 7 hits tonight: 5 of them went for extra bases, 5 of them came with two outs.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 28 2016 11:03 PM Re: Mets @ Natz, 6/28 (IGT #76) |
Even we bailed on this one. Was VERY cool of Robles to give us a ball. he also retieved a dropped cellphone of our neighbor but not before "selfy-ing" himself with it. Hes a fun loving bastard, he gave me such a look till he was sure the ball wound up with the kid.
|
bmfc1 Jun 29 2016 05:41 AM Re: Mets @ Natz, 6/28 (IGT #76) |
It's possible that the effort he made for the Lunchbucket family drained him so much that he had nothing left which resulted in his giving up two runs.
