Fortunately, they get a breather when they go to Chicago for four with the Cubs. Oh wait...........

These four with the Cubs are home games...so there's that.

Yeah, and if I can take off my negative-Nancy hat for a minute there will be large holiday-weekend crowds and maybe a good showing against a team as hot as Chicago will get some kahnfidence going team wide. Because as we know, kahnfidence is key.

Can't anybody else play right field besides De Aza? Cespedes? Kelly Johnson? The batboy?

The thing is, I don't even miss Murphy because of what he has become, but simply because of what he is.

Question? Should I be glad that I am out of range of broadcast? And happily oblivious to the pain?

No.

Two outs, runners on second and third. Tying runs.

The Loney HR coming as it did right on the heels of the (2nd) Murphy HR which essentially made it meaningless just an inning after it would have been heroic is just too perfect an example for how this season has gone.

Centerfield Jun 29 2016 09:41 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
What the fuck was Gilmartin doing in the game? And for what it's worth I said this at home before the inning started.
|
Edgy MD Jun 29 2016 09:46 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
Yeah, I don't know what to do with that.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 29 2016 09:51 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
String of LHBs coming up, Bastardo already spent tonight and Blevins, Robles, Reed, Goeddel having pitched the night before, I didn't have a problem with the choice of pitcher.

Edgy MD Jun 29 2016 09:59 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
I don't want to shoot a bullpen. I want to question the manager's deployment.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 29 2016 10:30 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
I don't question his deployment.

Edgy MD Jun 29 2016 11:09 PM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |

Do or don't, claiming anyone is "shooting a bullpen" is still deeply misrepresentative.
|
Centerfield Jun 30 2016 07:00 AM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
It's not that he had a bad outing his last time out. It's that he got absolutely pasted by these same guys two days ago.
|
bmfc1 Jun 30 2016 07:45 AM Re: IGT 06/29 - Mets at Nationals - Quest for Second Place |
Terry has never hesitated to give Familia an inning in a non-save situation after a few days of inactivity so I don't know why last night was different. Perhaps he didn't expect his team to score and decided to wait for Thursday given the probability that Matz only goes 5 or 6. In hindsight, it might have cost the Mets the game.

And some on this board (and elsewhere) have skewered him for doing so as if the bad outing which sometimes follows is proof of a cause-effect thing and demanded he not do it again. Kind of a no-win for Terry sometimes. I not one of those "only in save situations" guys and wouldn't have had a problem if he went to Familia for the 8th last night, but I thought Gilmartin a reasonable choice too and certainly nothing resembling a fireable offense.
And was meant to be taken oh so seriously.
