With the ASG break coming he'll probably only miss 2-3 starts, tops. I'm guessing there's nothing physically wrong with him anyway. Give him an extended bit of time to work on things without worrying about the next start. It's not like they can't replace what little he's been giving them lately anyway.

Just saw Harpers homer. His weight shift is perfectly formed for power. I thought he hit a 2 or 3 run bomb or something. I didn't know that the Nats went yard three times in that inning. So, yes, this was not Colon's night and I do think he was in too long.

Very interesting how they're going to try and get those last six outs. Ideally, it's a quick jobbie by Reed and Familia, but they might have to use Goeddel or Lugo. Reed has been icing on the bench for a while now.

That was another great game on this homestand...big win! I'm not hip to all of the new defensive metrics. Cabrera's got to be one of the better shortstops in the league this year, right? I don't even remember Reyes being able to make plays like that (and Asdrubal has made several like that this season).

Apparently Nats' GM Mike Rizzo got into a screaming match with the umps in a hallway after the game, complete with security guards intervening. Not surprisingly it was over the slide-rule call. Can't say as how I blame him. Not that I think he's right necessarily but there seems to be no consistency in how and if that rule is applied. Werth slid past the base twice yesterday and Revere did it once but only one of them wound up being called at of course it came in the 9th inning of a tight game. Whether this new rule is being applied by the letter of the law or subject to interpretation seems up in the air and I certainly can't claim to be able to predict it. http://nypost.com/2016/07/08/nats-gm-um ... mets-game/

Agreed. It's not clear whether he just happened to pass them in the hall and decided to let off steam or if he specifically went looking for them. That linked article also mentions Jim Joyce not recognizing Rizzo and having to ask who he was which seems kind of odd. Not that umps & GMs mix all that often but there are only 30 GMs and both guys have been around the game for a long time now.
