IGT 7/27 STL@NYM, 7:05PM

Adam Wainwright, who's been hot, faces Logan Verrett, who's been good enough. MLB.com's preview notes that Wainwright pitched successfully against the Mets once in 2006.

This is a Big Game again falling to Verrett, and we really need to bats to support him. That is all.

Re: IGT 7/27 STL@NYM, 7:05PM

Yeah, and as much as a more dynamic offense might have dug the Mets out of Game One yesterday, the most dynamic player they have is out of the lineup.

I'm trying to tell myself that any minute now, one of d'Arnaud, Flores, Lagares, or Conforto is going to wake up just a little bit more matured, and turn the game into his plaything.

All of them, actually, I'm hoping.

How's he gonna get better without getting the opportunity? They've
mishandled him, he's gonna be huge! Did I mention big? Huge.

Travis + Conforto have had some very good swings lately but still not consistent or impactful enough but if you're gonna dream, latch onto them 2.

He's got 817 PA against righties and over 100 this year.

Maybe he'll hit them eventually, but the Mets should assume he won't and have someone ready to go if Reyes can't.

How much longer are we going to be subjected to the mediocre-at-best Logan Verrett? He's a AAAA pitcher, not a starter on a winning major league team.

Re: IGT 7/27 STL@NYM, 7:05PM

Shit. What happened? I stepped off.

Oh, that Wainwright lead off walk. That's when I stepped off. I had a bad feeling about that walk. And Holliday does his job.

Two early walks in this game is concerning enough, but the lead off walk to the pitcher was a big red flag to me.

Logan has a smooth 4th.

I'm not huge on Verrett, but I think he's an adequate fifth starter. And, I don't know what the other option is until Wheeler gets back.

Wainwright's setting them up with the curve. The hard curve then the softer one. Grandy was waaay out in front of that 3rd strike. Asdrubal, not as much, but still fooled.
