Nimmo Is ...

(a) ... a AAAA player — he'll get a handful of call-ups but never stick. 0 votes

(b) ... a bench player — he'll play a bunch of years, maybe even earn a pension, but never get into over 100 games. 0 votes

(c) ... a platoon player — a productive part of a lineup, as long as he only faces righties. 3 votes

(d) ... a starter — you'll expect his name in the lineup for several years, batting seventh or second, occasionally first or sixth or fifth in a pinch but nobody's going to build their game strategy around stopping him. Not a featured player. 9 votes

(e) ... an all-star — kids will be imitating his stance, endorsements will come, and at least three all-star games will see him take a bow, maybe even one of them will include a start. 1 votes

(f) ... a superstar — anchoring a lineup, ahead of everybody with adjustments, driving opposing managers crazy, the guy you never want to face with the game on the line, the guy that makes the whole lineup seem different when he's injured. And if he stays healthy, Cooperstown. 0 votes

There's disagreement in scouting circles, there's disagreement online, with a wide range of outcomes still on the table. Now that we've seen Nimmo go down with the tying runs on and two out in the ninth and then turn around and turn a game around right after, let's poll the room.

...adorable!

I loved how ridiculously exuberant he was after scoring last night. Just thinking about that makes me smile :)

That one at bat last night where he ended up lashing a single up the middle. That showed me great promise & intelligence. worked the count. Adjusted to hit it the other way and charged into the pitch.

He'll at least be as good as Dave Magadan with similar #s, I figure.

That's a tough row to hoe. Mags was underrated, like, to an Olerudian extent.

I like the kid, and hope for him. But I certainly have my doubts about him, and I'm not sure he'll be more than an interesting, toothy backup.

Nimmo is... somewhere between bench guy and starter, but i'm not sure "platoon" is the option. I'm guessing he bounces up and down for the next 2 years before eventually giving the Mets 2-3 decent seasons as a part-time starter before settling into a bench role. its a heck of a lot better than paying the going rate (5-10 million a year) for the Colby Rasmuses of the world in free agency, but hes no star.

I believe the plural is Rasmi.

But on the Mets, it's De Azae.

Re: Nimmo Is ...

I really like the Hunter Pence comparison. If he lives up to that he will surpass my expectations, and I hope he does. And that 3 run bomb the other day makes me more optimistic than not. I didn't expect him to be hitting no doubters. I shouldn't even say that until we see him hit a few more that far.

Who made that comparison?

I mean, my first reaction would be that Pence is a righty.

That is actor Barry Pepper from Saving Private Ryan who I thought looked like Nimmo.

Our booth. One of the three great ones introduced it, can't recall which.

I'm actually the fist person to have made that comparison, back in Spring Training of 2014. Body wise, he's like Pence.

Gary said it the other night.
