Re: IGT 8/4 Mets v MFY's Colon v. Eovaldi

Who knows with Uncle Bartolo, he may baffle the Yanks tonight and sprinkle 3 hits over
8 1/3... Mets scoring 10 runs of support would be nice too.

I want this game so bad I could spit. Losing 3-4 in this series is just unacceptable. Going
1-1 and 1-1 is a little easier pill to swallow.

I wonder if Conforto is dinged up. Better fielder than Granderson I would think.

No Wilmer.

Wilmer looked like shit on both sides of the ball last night and is hitting barely .200 vs RHP

Grandy vs Conforto with the glove? Eh, I could go either way on that one and at least Grandy is familiar with that stadium and even that particular field even if only a handful of times (looks like 11 YSIII starts in LF three seasons ago)

Hey Steven Matz, THAT'S how you follow a run-scoring inning!!
6 pitches, 3 outs for old man Bart.

Haven't seen a lot but tuned in now and find Terry pulling Uncle Bartolo after
6 2/3 in favor of The Blevman. Hope it don't bite ya in the ass, Terry...

Just noticed they fixed the grass by first base. Guess we em-
barrassed them last night.

Earlier I had the game on but was just listening as I worked on some graphics. And I'm listening for play by play but there wasn't any. It just sounded like a bunch of guys hanging out. So I look and they weren't even showing the game. There was some kind of Skankee circle jerk goin on with the Ratfaced Boy in the middle. I was repulsed.

And just then when the Yanks scored the guy sounded like the fuckin Hindenburg was goin' down. These guys are awful.

We are soooo spoiled.

Also not in favor of this but it's going well so far. Reed is back to business as usual.

Back to the usual for Reed, the ultra-efficient scoreless inning.

When he first signed that initial two-year deal, most of us assumed that he'd pitch year one while the baby hurlers developed and then probably phased out and/or dealt away at some point during the second season.
And now here we are 2/3 of the way into Year Three of the great Bartolo experiment and the idea that he might be signed for next season is not at all out of the question.

Re: IGT 8/4 Mets v MFY's Colon v. Eovaldi

So what the fuck is Girardi (and/or the Steinbrenners) trying to prove with ARod?

Down by three, two runners on base, #8 hitter at the plate (2 career HRs - none this year) and you leave the guy with 696 careers HRs on the bench?!? ... and with his jacket on it didn't look like he was going to hit for the #9 hitter either (23 HRs in >1,000 ABs) if he came up.
Yeah I know he suxxx at this point (and whose fault it that?) but this now smells like they've decided to cut him but are intent on embarrassing him first.

And I'm sure you all know that this rant is not based on any kind of sympathy for Sir Alex of Rodrigia. But how is playing with a 24 man bench while you're only 5 or so games out of the WC race doing yourself any favors? It's like they don't care if it hurts themselves as long as they make him look and feel like shit in the process.

oe: and all of this coming off two games where they sat him against a lefty hurler on Wednesday and vs Colon tonight against whom he had more HRs than anyone - and instead DH'd a just called-up backup catcher who was 0-for-4 in his major league career when this series started.
So if I'm a Yanqui fan -- even if not an ARod fan -- I'm on the warpath right now over this game.

Yeah, it's like they're using a plausibly defensible deployment of their forces as a thin disguise for overt vindictiveness.

Got home from work just in time to see the post-game show. I saw that play and wonder why some early scouting reports questioned his defense at short. He looked smooth and confident. And he hasn't done anything I've seen that would make me fear playing him at short on a regular basis.

Bartolo conducted his post game interview through a (hot) translator. I'm pretty sure he has lived in the US long enough to have picked up at least a working knowledge of English. I know its his prerogative, but why does he do this? Comfort factor or just Bartolo being Bartolo? Or a chance to be next to that translator?

If they had any kind of decency they'd release him so he could go play in Seattle or Miami

Yeah, there is clearly some ill-will on the Yankees' side against A-Rod. Maybe they feel he embarrassed them with this whole fiasco? Not sure. Don't care enough to dig, but I can tell you I was happy they let the guy with no HR's hit and end the game on a double play.

Maybe they're trying to get that protected draft pick.
