DBags are the only NL we've yet to play this year. Greinke got off to a rotten start to the monster six year contract he signed this past winter (two 7-run games in his first five starts probably had Arizona fans grumbling in their Tequila sunrise's) but then seemed to be turning things around in June before missing all of July on the DL. Would have been nice of him to hang out there a few weeks longer so we could miss him entirely in 2016 (although we'd probably get 2-hit by the call-up replacement anyway) but he came off the list just to see us as this will be his first game since June 28 Not sure if we're getting a KTE for this series but what I do know about the 2016 Snakes is that they really stink. Started off the year not very good and then got worse. 9-21 since July 1st and are in danger of being caught by the Braves in the race for worst record in the NL

Games of some import whilst we were taking a night off from baseball - WC-leading Dodgers beat Philly. Two more HRs from ROY fave Corey Seager. Also was the first game vs the Phils for Chase Utley (although in LA, not Philly) - first AB = HR - Marlins lose to the Giants in 14 innings. Miami had a 5-1 lead behind Jose Fernandez but pulled him after 6 innings (106 pitches). Giants then scored 4 times in the 7th to tie it. Big story in the game was the [u:2n2r1el9]7 for 8 night[/u:2n2r1el9] by SS Brandon Crawford (5 singles, 1 double, 1 triple) including the game-winning hit in the 14th. Crawford had had 6 hits in his previous 9 games combined. You just can't explain baseball Suzyn. Ichiro grounded out PH'ing in his first home AB since getting #3,000 - Cardinals were down 4-0 to Cincy w/2 outs in the 9th and a runner on 1st ... and won the game. Tying and winning runs scored on a bases-loaded walk followed by a HBP Cards & Miami tied for WC #2, 1.5 games ahead of NYM

Come visit the Lunchlady in section 510 tonight. I'm getting the pitching matchup I deserved after telling Matz to stuff it. But I have hope. Mets are a strong Tuesday-night team this year, at least when I saw em and you don't count the first games of doubleheaders.

Long inning for Matz. Almost 30 pitches. He has to stop with the woe is me facial expressions. Save them for the 6th inning and beyond. My suspicion is that something's wrong with Goldschmidt's back.

I wore it loose because that's how I thought Agee wore it. The finger thing was because it was such a large glove. A real sweet blue McGregor glove that was HUGE, longways.

Sandy failed to procure another bullpen arm as he promised. Perhaps if Sandy got off his ass and traded for a reliever we wouldn't have to automatically see Robles in the 7th.

I'm sure that the reason Sandy didn't trade for a reliever wasn't because he wanted to sleep late or because he was watching The Guiding Light. He probably didn't see a deal that was worth making. If he overpaid for that reliever, whoever that reliever might be, then that would be the thing we'd be complaining about.

Nor do I see ongoing use of Robles in the 7th as a problem; he failed last night, it happens.

On PH'ing Kelly for Travis (NY Post): Collins admitted it was “hard” pinch-hitting for Travis d’Arnaud with two out and one on in the ninth inning of a 5-3 game. “He’s struggling … so many ground balls,” ... he hoped Kelly could “get a walk and maybe get the go-ahead run to come [up]. It’s very hard because this guy is a big part of our lineup. We’ve got to get him going. He’s far better than a .230 hitter.” d’Arnaud: “I did want that shot, but I’ve got to play better. Terry made the right decision and whatever he chooses to do I support. I just have to keep working hard and soon I’ll get out of this funk.”

I'm more than ready to pinch-hit for Kevin Long. By the way, that's the problem with d'Arnaud's swing. It's long. As for Kelly getting a walk, he was the tying run. One tends to look for a bomb in those situations.

I was pretty shocked a the PH move myself ... but on the other hand d'Arnaud has all of eight XBHs this season and just five (3 2Bs, 2 HR) since his return from the d'L (see what I did there?) nearly two months ago (June 21) so maybe TC has a point, although with two outs already it's not like a potential GiDP was an issue.
