In fairness to Terry, Kelly Johnson is starting where TJ Rivera did yesterday and he did a little bit last night to earn a start as well. Also this pitcher's R/L splits are pretty severe (small sample size).

DBacks have more XBHs so far in this game (4) and as many in that 4th inning from the bottom of their depleted order off our supposed ace (3) as the Mets have in this entire series.

And apparently, unlike NYM pitchers, give-back innings aren't standard operating procedure with them. Our batters follow up by going out 1-2-3 on 9 pitches.

Fewer pitches for this Shipley guy thru 7 innings than Noah needed just to get thru 4. I'm going to continue to come up with comparisons such as these until I can't possibly feel any more shitty about this game than I already do.

When do some these injured guys start coming back? Reyes started rehab with the Cyclones today, right? Is Cespedes too far off? I'm assuming Cabrera at least a month out.

Reyes will be back soon but he's not a difference maker. neither is Cabrera. Cespedes will obviously help if he is in fact ready in another 8 or so days but probably not enough if Conforto and d'Arnaud are both going to be disasters while everyone else, minus Walker and Granderson who are merely good, is lucky to be average.

Over the years we've joked about the kids having to leave these games early because the bus is waiting and it's time to keep on schedule. The kids ran out of the stadium to go sit in a buses with no air conditioning about 45 minutes ago.

Y'know this game is also the spiritual descendant of the MoFo picnic game - Thursday afternoon game, second week of August ... although not quite as hot today. Not a good thing that our best offensive output of this series came in the game vs Greinke.
