I see the value in not throwing Ynoa out for his first MLB start in Arizona, but man. Would have loved to see the kid get a chance.

O-o-T-S from earlier today: - Nats scored in 7 of their 9 innings - but managed "only" ten runs and wound up on the short end of a 12-10 game in Colorado. Third rough outing in a row for Strasburg [19 ER in his last 3 starts, 11-2/3 innings] after being unbeatable much of the summer, and this one was really rough: 9 earned and not making it out of the 2nd inning. I mean, yeah it's Denver, but still - Sabathia only a little better for the Yanx: 7 runs over 6 IP as the Yanx lose the game and the series to Toronto - Pitt overcame an early 4-0 deficit to edge the now 2nd-place Giants - Cards thump the Astros

Niese pulled in the 5th @82 pitches, down 3-1. Goeddel takes the mound. I was surprised when I saw Niese was pitching. I thought he was gonna be outta the pen only.

And that (the second Weeks HR) is why you don't automatically 'pitch around' a lineup's top hitter each time, because guaranteeing anyone a 1.000 OBP is going to come back to bite you eventually, and probably often.

not that it matters but Josh Edgin was every bit as awful as anyone they used last night. Fat and lazy as well, didn't bother hustling to home plate to retrieve his own wild pitch. Pathetic effort last night

Boy, those were some clutch HRs there at the end. Who says we never hit 9th inning homers? Got out-XBH'd in this series 21 to 12 For the season NYM bats average just under [u:2qto4x5z]8 hits[/u:2qto4x5z] per game and here we are in this series giving up an average of 7 XBH. Not a winning formula.
