Updated a hobby of mine recently that looks at other teams retired numbers and other forms of honoring or spotlighting their franchise's greats and whatnot, and I thought I'd look to see how many with Metly ties have been honored in such fashion, and make a quiz out of it.

Well, there have been 67 that fit the bill! So this will be broken down by franchises:

Braves Standard Hall of Fame, 2 Mets
-
-

Brewers While they do have a Walk of Fame that is a standard committee based selected HOF, they have a merits and achievements based Wall of Honor and 6 Mets are honored in this
-
-
-
-
-
-

Cardinals Standard Hall of Fame 5 with Met ties
-
-
-
-
-

Giants also have a merit/achievement, SF only, based Wall of Honor as well, with 4 individuals with Met ties
-
-
-
-

Nationals have a Ring of Honor, with personnel tied to Washington baseball and its own franchise's past 1 of whom has Metly ties
-

Padres Standard Hall of Fame 1 individual with Met ties
-

Phillies Wall of Fame, which is a standard Hall, 5 individuals with Met ties
-
-
-
-
-

Reds Standard Hall of Fame, 4 with Met ties
-
-
-
-

Angels Standard Hall of Fame 7 with Met ties, though to be fair 4 of whom are honored as part of the 2002 World Champions
-
-
-
-
-
-
-

Astros Standard Walk of Fame with 3 former Mets represented
-
-
-

Blue Jays Level of Excellence has 3 former Mets represented
-
-
-

Indians Standard Hall of Fame 1 former Met is enshrined
-

Orioles Standard Hall of Fame 9 members with Met ties
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-

Rangers Standard Hall of Fame with 3 former Mets represented
-
-
-

Red Sox Standard Hall of Fame with 6 members with Met ties
-
-
-
-
-
-

Royals Standard Hall of Fame with 5 members with Met ties
-
-
-
-
-

Twins Standard Hall of Fame with 2 inductees with Met ties
-
-

MFYs Monument Park, standard selected Hall like, 4 members with Met ties

And Fred Wilpon has paid more tribute to ex-Brooklyn players than LA has, but nothing for HOF-er Duke Snider?

To be fair, numbers of Reese, Snider, Campanella, and Robinson are retired, and they do salute their Brooklyn hertiage when warranted (anniversaries).

FWIW, other than the Dodgers, the following franchies do not have any sort of mechanism such as a Hall or Walk or Wall of Fame;

Cubs, Diamondbacks, Marlins (whom, along with the Nats are the line teams with no non-Robinson retired numbers), Pirates, Rockies, Athletics, Rays, Tigers and White Sox.

Si...*sigh* I'll do a second update after a few more posts come in.

A hint of the Ranger remaining actually concerns Glavine, or at least how Glavine ended up his Met career in somewhat the same fashion as this guy did.

Major hints with Brewers and Giants, both are merit and achievement based "Walls of Honor," so think about that when it comes to ex-Met Brewers or Giants.

Still looking for the members of the 2002 Angels.

The remaining Phillie is also a notorious Met villain for his performance, or lack thereof, in a Met uniform.

And so far two of the wrong guesses could have been right ones with a different franchise.

I just took a look at the Brewers walk of fame because I was dumbstruck that the franchise could honor six one-time Mets and George Bamberger, who managed their greatest teams and managed them to their only WS and was beloved, wouldn't be one of them.

Boy is that thing liberal. It appears that if you have two or two and a half decent seasons with the Brewers, you get the honor. But not Bambi. I mean, I could see why he isn't in the Mets HOF but not in that Brewers thing? You should see some of the forgettable players on that thing.

LOL! Like I said, its merit based and based on various career milestones and achievements.

The Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor was established in 2014 to commemorate Brewers players who have made significant contributions to the team. Retired players who have met any one of seven conditions while playing for the Brewers will be enshrined in to the Wall of Honor. Active players will be enshrined upon retirement. These criteria include 2,000 or more plate appearances, 1,000 or more innings pitched, 250 or more games pitched, winning of a major award (Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award, Cy Young Award, Rookie of the Year Award, or Fireman of the Year Award), managing a pennant-winning team, being recognized with a statue on the Miller Park Plaza, and being elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.[1]

Only non-playing personnel on their Wall are Seilg, Uke and Harvey Kuenn. I think its Kuenn, and that era being called Harvey's Wallbangers, that get more of the credit for being the skipper of that era's Brew Crew.

Re: Mets Honored By Other Teams' Halls/Walks/etc Quiz

Hints:

Brewers, an now deceased OFer who may have put a curse on the Mets since his departure from the team, a Harvey's Wall Banger era pitcher and an early Brewer pitcher.

Giants, you should get all three. No real hints needed. Suffice to say all three have ties to important events in Met history.

Reds, briefly played and managed here.

Angels, member of the 2002 team with 5 tools, and an early Angel and CY winner.

Astro, original Astro and early 1970s Met.

Orioles, and original Met and coach on Stengel's staff.

Red Sox, an already mentioned utility infielder, and a guy with some serious issues.

Royals, coached here in the 1990s.

Cardinals: Tom Herr & Jason isringhausen

Twins: Johan Santana & Frank Viola

Just a questiion a quick question, because I'm not sure. I thought of Jeff Conine for the Florida (Miami) Marlins, but then saw that the Marlins weren't an option. Do the Marlins not have a franchise Hall of Fame (or whatever they call it) or is there simply no former Mets honored in there Marlins Hall of Recognition?

Twins and Cardinals have been completed.

Marlins are one of 9 teams (also Athletics, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Pirates, Rockies, Rays, Tigers and White Sox) with no such honor like is discussed in this thread.

Re: Mets Honored By Other Teams' Halls/Walks/etc Quiz

Not trying to hijacck your thread (quiz) Steve, but wondering why some teams aren't included. For instance, Ralph Kiner has his number retired by the Pittsburgh Pirates and was a long time, beloved announcer for the NY Mets. Why would that not count as Mets being honored by other clubs? Of course, Ralph never suited up and played for the Mets.

Retired numbers are a different category of honoring team greats.

I mean Piazza was inducted into the Mets HOF before getting his number retired!

Almost no excuse for not getting McMillan. Fernandez too.

Cool thread, Steve.

The Indians, which do a nice job with team history, also have a salute to the 100 Greatest Indians in an area beyond center field. Good stuff! Mets included there are:

The Alomars
Carlos Baerga
Julie Franco
Orel Hershiser
Pat Tabler

That's a nice ballpark in Cleveland. Recommended.

Re: Mets Honored By Other Teams' Halls/Walks/etc Quiz

And if the Mets ever decided to do an all-time Top-100 list we could tell them that the CPF has already done the legwork.
Of course being a newer team the list is more susceptible to updates so it would kind of suck for an ex-Met to have his name on the roll of honor for a few years only to fall off the list and have their plaque removed on account of being passed by newer players. So sorry Eddie Murray, Ollie Perez and Danny Frisella, you are no longer are worthy. And hey you, Dennis Cook, Al Jackson, Frank Viola, and Aaron Heilman, don't make any long terms plans.
