ESPN, 8-ish -- RHP Lopez, 2-2, 5.33 vs RHP Lugo, 2-2, 2.60

MFS62 Sep 04 2016 09:21 AM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
I hope there is no rain delay or extra inning game tonight, with tomorrow's game in Cincy starting at 1 PM.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 04 2016 09:59 AM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
Blame MLB more than ESPN. They either need to put restrictions on which games the network can grab for their Sunday Night showcase or they have to force Cincy to change the start time of Monday's game.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 04 2016 10:35 AM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
And Lopez is going up against the guy we should start call 'The Disc Jockey' because his spin rate is so high.

In Cleveland, it's fastballing Danny Salazar versus slow-in-the-head Tom Koehler. Salazar has 11 Ks through five innings, but it's still Marlins 1, Indians 0.

Per the CBA:
Flight time LGA to CVA = 2:15 on average Also (bolding mine):
This leads me to believe that the Mets players signed off on the quick turnaround, no? *Section C(1) are the rules for split doubleheader scheduling.
|
batmagadanleadoff Sep 04 2016 05:39 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
The Mets once had "The Doctor" and now it looks like they have "The Spin Doctor".
|
Chad Ochoseis Sep 04 2016 05:50 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
The 2:15 includes taxiing time and time at the gate, and has a bit of fat in it. Actual time in flight is probably just about 90 minutes.
|
Chad Ochoseis Sep 04 2016 06:58 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
|
And the Indians, with help from Fernando Rodney walking the bases loaded, score three runs with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Marlins 6-5 and complete the three game sweep.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 04 2016 07:03 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
Yup. Both the Marlins and the Giants took leads into the 9th today but neither could hang on to the lead.

Pretty psyched to hear ESPN fillating Murphy all night.

Not that we'd care, because he would have been hitting .243.

Bad ass.
|
bmfc1 Sep 04 2016 07:32 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
It doesn't make his success any easier to take but Murphy cost himself a lot of money. The Mets QO was $15.8 million. He signed with WSH for 3 years at $37.5 million (and WSH only gives back-loaded contracts). With the season he is having (assuming he'd have that year with the Mets), he would have made a lot more as a free agent this winter than he did last winter.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 04 2016 07:41 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
That was one long-ass 1st inning for just one run being scored.

bmfc1 Sep 04 2016 08:05 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
ESPN does the worst job at broadcasting baseball. Between their storylines, the "K Zone", the crawl at the bottom, and their announcers never shutting up it's awful. I'd rather listen to Joe Buck feign interest in baseball or watch TBS with the box on the right side of the screen than have the Mets on ESPN. Having said that, I really hope to watch the Mets in the Wild Card game on ESPN on October 5th

|
Mets Guy in Michigan Sep 04 2016 08:14 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
|
Yeah, with two outs, a sac fly wouldn't bring him home. But he could score from second on a base hit. And Reyes is a decent candidate to hit a single. But, is that on Teufel or Bruce?

That's a good question but there's no time for that, they have to talk about Murphy and Harper!
|
d'Kong76 Sep 04 2016 08:35 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
|
I was surprised he ran but wasn't out by more than a half second. You never want to end the inning with an out at third base. (bow heads to Tim McCarver) Still the play was in front of him so the decision was his and no way was he looking to Teufel, at least he shouldn't be. Dumb play, I kinda feel sorry for him... I hope he finds himself soon.

Reed gets it done in the 8th. Terry likely goes to Familia (especially since he has had him up and throwing) in a non-save situation to close out the game.
|
Mets Guy in Michigan Sep 04 2016 09:55 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
Two outs, bottom 8th, no men on base, down 5-1 -- And Dusty goes to the pen?

I could have done w/o seeing either tonight. If they got the tying run on I would have then summoned Reed. Fammy? Same deal.

I could make a decent argument for Reed. Nats had the middle of the order coming up [Werth, Murph, Harper, Rondon, and, as it turned out, Ramos]. Even with a four run lead, Terry would kick himself (and we'd join in on the kicking) if he blew that game by going to second tier relievers. Now with just one inning to go and the bottom of the order, I'd prefer not to see Familia with the quick turn-around tomorrow, but aren't going to storm the castle over it.
|
Zvon Sep 04 2016 10:04 PM Re: IGT 09/04-Nationals at Metropolitans |
Howies got a great point tho. All games are crucial at this point. I wouldn't be concerned if not for the early game tomorrow. But we do have to treat all games as crucial.

The Cincy International airport (which is actually in Kentucky) was voted one of the best airports in the world a few years ago. When I used to travel a lot on business, they kept telling us that on the airport TVs. It is a major hub for major airlines as well as a number of regional carriers. If the flight was that quick, it sounds like they got a good landing slot. Later
