RH Rafael Montero (0-0, 3.68 ERA) vs. LH Brandon Finnegan (8-10, 4.19)
|
Ashie62 Sep 06 2016 11:32 AM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Finnegan bites. Just 5-6 inings Montero.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 06 2016 11:46 AM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Finnegan doesn't really suck that much. Gives up too many HRs and walks but his last 3 outings have been great:
|
Ashie62 Sep 06 2016 11:50 AM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
That does not bite. Crap.

Edgy MD Sep 06 2016 12:01 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
There once was a Red named Brandon Finnegan
|
Centerfield Sep 06 2016 12:37 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
I worry about Montero in this small ball park. I wonder if it'll make him want to nibble even more, and increase his walk total.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 06 2016 12:51 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Finnegan, you may recall, was the guy who went from the College World Series (TCU), to a 1st round pick in the draft (17th overall by KC), to the majors (debut two years ago today), and to the ML World Series

Reds eager to get started...

I agree. The replace-Mets pitchers have been great, but I feel like this team needs to lean on the offense down the stretch so that the margins aren't as thin for the young pitchers. 23 runs would be awesome, but I'd be cool with 15.

Running R.J. Reynolds right back out there, Terry is.

Benjamin Grimm Sep 06 2016 02:03 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Interesting. I thought his policy was to rest the guy with the hot bat. (Or maybe that only applies to guys named "Wilmer Flores.")
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 06 2016 02:10 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Eh. I wanted to see Cecchini to get a start. We know Reynolds is just a guy who gets into one every now and then.

Frayed Knot Sep 06 2016 02:12 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |

Well, Finnegan is a lefty which makes today 'All LHBs grab some pine Tuesday' - except of course in the OF where the choices are like nine different LH-hitters plus Yoenis.

Foiling his haters, you might say.

Edgy MD Sep 06 2016 02:47 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |

I don't think Terry intends on giving Cecchini any starts until this playoff race sorts itself out. He's practically said as much. I myself was visioning on T.J. Rivera.

That's okay. In 2016 home runs are our specialty. That is one sparsely populated ballpark.

bmfc1 Sep 06 2016 06:25 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |
Is Reyes OK? If so, then why didn't Terry give him the steal sign?
|
Zvon Sep 06 2016 06:44 PM Re: IGT 09/06-NYM @ CIN |

Like you I expect it to be Go-Go Reyes soon after he reaches but I guess they are being more cautious in when they will have him Go-Go-Going. Maybe they feel he's still getting his legs back. Come crunch time down this stretch we do need Reyes to be as good a leadoff guy as he ever was. That's a lot to ask for at his age, but I think he can be that guy again. GRANDY!!!

For those listening to the SNY booth. Ha, Gary just said it. Why on earth would the minors use a different baseball?

Too many of those for him. It's gotten to where the hits look like the exception as opposed to the beginning of the year when you almost expected him to hit the ball hard somewhere each time up.

I have been commenting on this for a while. Maybe last season too. There have been delays sometimes over a minute, only when viewing thru the PC (MLBtv). Watching WPIX or ESPN on TV, there is still a delay, more like a half a minute. Yea, many times I hear/read whats happened before it happens. On twitter I just don't refresh until I think it's safe from spoilers.

Speaking of delays, I was just reading this quote thinking, 'what about whose arm?' ... and seconds later the play happened and I could pretty much figure out how it was going to end before it did.
