IGT - Mets @ Nats - Game #146 - 9/14/16

Gsellman vs Tanner Roark. Remember that it's a 4:05 start, last weekday day game of the year. Same matchup as eleven days ago. Mets won that one 3-1 with Gsellman giving up just 1 run over 6, Roark 2 runs over 5. Chance for the second straight series win vs these dudes even if none of it involved Strasburg or Scherzer (not that I saw them facing Harvey or deGrom either). t'would be nice if we could make Muffy go hitless for [u:22lyywhe]ONE[/u:22lyywhe] game this season, something we haven't been able to do for the first 18.

What's amazing is that depending on how things go, at the end of the day they could be the first wild card, second wild card, or on the outside looking in. Meaningful Gseptember baseball.

Meanwhile, Kevin Plawecki was recalled nearly two weeks ago but you'd never know it because he's yet to have even as much as a pinch-hit appearance much less a start. Not that I'm suggesting he should be getting a start anytime soon, but it's quite a reversal from early in the season when he was starter 1A and Rivera was Rene Who?

They leave the bases loaded. The funny thing is if like just 3-4 of these situations over the course of the season went well the Mets would be sitting pretty wild card wise...

Seven baserunners allowed over 5-2/3 for Gsellman but none scored largely thanks to three being erased via DP, 1 GiDP plus the two K/CS type.

Who gets to do the intentional walk has long been a curiosity to me. Maybe the idea is to help Smokes get four more warmup pitches.

What's worse is, ignoring the game all day with the notion of watching a 7:30-ish replay on SNY, only to find out that no replay was scheduled. Though I think waiting an extra 3+ hours to watch a 1-0 shutout would have just pissed me off anyway.

You think that was bad on TV, it was worse in person. I'm on the left, in a Faith & Fear In Flushing shirt. It was like waiting for a train that wouldn't arrive. You get to the platform all psyched to go somewhere but the train never shows up. The best part was having so many Mets fans near us as The 7 Line Army was two sections to our right (with some moving to the empty seats around me). At least I didn't pay $62 for the ticket, tee, and a pin plus another $50 or so for the bus (I paid $23 from Stubhub) for a 1-0 loss. Cespedes was in front of us. Between innings, after two or three long throws, he made believe he was a pitcher and pitched to the bullpen catcher (the Mets bullpen is in RF at Nationals Park).
