I was totally expecting Conforto to hit into a 1-2-3 double play when he was up with the bases loaded and nobody out in the first. That two-run single was a very pleasant surprise!

Yes on Conforto, d'Arnaud when he's not stinking is unlucky. Dislike leaving so many runners stranded, that won't cut it in post-season.

That they have one walk this season in 114 bases loaded plate appearances (stats prior to today's game). Now you figure that walks might be low with the bases juiced, but the Mets' 0.8% rate compares not-too-favorably with the approx 5.8% (115 of 1,992) of the league as a whole.

He wasn't ready. He wasn't sure what was coming, chased outside of the zone, and couldn't do anything with the curve. They pitched him down and away and he looked like bad Lucas. But he was big, strong, and goofy, and it was great to see him. Tomorrow is another day.

Why is Keith trying to hit his own disembodied face in the head with a bat? Why are visions of Mets pitchers dancing around Rube Walkers head? Technically I should be able to answer both questions. I'm going to put together some stuff from my old drawings and hopefully get Keith to sign this (like I did back in the 80's) someday. I did a series of them. A bunch of different backgrounds. I'm looking for the right balance & composition with the images. Right after I made the other I thought I've got to get his fielding in there somehow. These are avatar versions. Original is wallpaper size. Should print up nice (minus the facsimile autograph, where I'd like him to sign). Cards beat the Giants. :) I think that's more of a :( :s :/ ;)

I agree with Namor. The sooner this becomes a two-team race the better. The Cardinals winning last night increases the chances of the Mets not making it at all.

Yeah, as far as the Mets' chances at making the post-season, the split was the worst scenario for the Mets. One team taking three games would have created some distance. A sweep would have been ideal. Anyway, the reason it's a good weekend is because the Mets swept the Twins. I think if the Mets keep sweeping their opponents, this will really help their playoff chances.
