Strasburg

From The Washington Post:

Stephen Strasburg unfurled the pitch, and into the great unknown it sailed. There may not have been many on hand during a sewing-circle-sized gathering at Nationals Park, but here came the collective groan, which may have originally had its roots in frustration. That is, somehow, how we have grown to treat his every malady, with a shrug of the shoulders and a roll of the eyes and a look to the bullpen.

But then Strasburg punched his glove three times. Then he threw one more pitch. Then he walked off the mound covering his mouth with his glove. Then, dreadfully, came the realization that every possible fate, almost all of them nasty, sat right there on the table for the Washington Nationals right-hander. A season that is barreling straight toward October suddenly teetered.

Heckuva writeup from Barry Svrluga.

Nats and Braves tied at 3 in the 10th. Washington on their eighth pitcher.

Re: Strasburg

Smart of the Nats to keep him out of the playoffs all those years ago. really kept him healthy.

Re: Strasburg

The mandatory MRI. He said he felt a pinch in the back of the elbow.

Re: Strasburg

Remember (two months ago!) when it was common wisdom that Harvey's thoracic outlet syndrome proved the Nats did everything right with Strasburg and the Mets everything wrong with Harvey?

Another empty and obnoxious argument. Explain to me again please about what zero chance means.

as opposed to your straw man argument that you're always accusing me of using?

I'd be happy to cite sources if you can reel it in a little.

I don't really need sources, anyone that was using single-injury anecdotal evidence to make sweeping generalizations about pitching injuries isn't really worth reading on the topic.

So, we're in agreement and you still thought it was good time to randomly land a punch on me?

Re: Strasburg

I wouldn't call that common wisdom. I don't know if people were saying that. I'm sure you can find people ignorantly mouthing off about just about anything if you look.

Re: Strasburg

On a lighter note, no structural damage to Strasburg's ligament, good.

Re: Strasburg

But the flexor mass strain will keep him out "indefinitely," with the prognosis to be revisited/revised appropriately in another 4- 5 days, or after the start of our series with them. So, that's good, too, but in a different way.
