Does anyone know when next year's schedule is going to be announced?

I can't help myself - I'm a planner....

The Mets MLB schedule page lets you now choose 2017 in the calendar...but I'm not buying it.

Right now it shows them playing the whole month of April at home, all against division foes!

West coast (sleepy us) (I'm including COL and AZ as the "west coast" for late night TV purposes, don't bust my chops):
May 15 to 17
June 19 to 25
July 24 to August 3 (wow!).

after that though they go basically 3 weeks with only a bus trip to Philly in terms of travel.

They'll be playing in Seattle again, huh? They were just there in 2014.

Many of us grew up being told Atlanta and Cincinnati were situated west of Chicago and St. Louis, so you're already doing way better in geography than Bowie Kuhn.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

That first Sunday, April 2nd, will have three games played with the remainder of the league getting going on Monday.
The two afternoon games are already set but the ESPN Sunday Night national telecast is 'TBA' for now and that's traditionally been where the reigning WS champ kicks off their defense of their title meaning that I'm figuring there's about a 74% chance our Monday opener is getting moved up. OK maybe not that high, but don't make any unbreakable plans for that Sunday night quite yet.

I hope so! Might be the Cubs though. Imagine it was the Cubs opening on a Sunday night? Do they have enough beer in Chicago for that kind of tailgate?

I've been tinkering with a little Pittsburgh road trip with little Solo for a few years now, but the Mets visit to the Steel city has never worked with our schedule. Next year maybe we can swing something for that Memorial Day weekend visit.

I have dreams of taking a road trip to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and then Detroit. Would probably have to rent a car and fly back from Detroit.

I'll be checking the schedule to see if there is any window where all three are home consecutively.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

Here's your Sunday night schedule:

Official release from ESPN..

http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-relea ... pearances/

Opening Night & Sunday Night Baseball early-season schedule:
Date Time(ET) Telecast
Apr. 2 8:30 p.m. MLB Opening Night: Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals
Apr. 9 8 p.m. Miami Marlins at New York Mets telecast presented by Taco Bell
Apr. 16 8 p.m. St. Louis Cardinals at New York Yankees presented by Taco Bell
Apr. 23 8 p.m. Washington Nationals at New York Mets telecast presented by Taco Bell
Apr. 30 8 p.m. Chicago Cubs at Boston Red Sox telecast presented by Taco Bell
May 7 8 p.m. New York Yankees at Chicago Cubs telecast presented by Taco Bell
May 14 7:30 p.m. Houston Astros at New York Yankees telecast presented by Taco Bell
May 21 8 p.m. TBD
May 28 8 p.m. New York Mets at Pittsburgh Pirates telecast presented by Taco Bell
June 4 7:30 p.m. St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs telecast presented by Taco Bell
June 11 8 p.m. TBD
June 18 8 p.m. TBD
June 25 8 p.m. TBD
July 2 8 p.m. TBD
July 9 8 p.m. Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians telecast presented by Taco Bell
July 16 8 p.m. New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox telecast presented by Taco Bell
July 23 8 p.m. St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs telecast presented by Taco Bell

So Mets fans lose 2 home Sunday afternoons. Also, the Mets play on Sunday night in Pittsburgh and have a 1 PM game the next day in Queens.

Yeah, let's shift a couple more games in the northeast into the night [u:1f4e31gk]IN APRIL[/u:1f4e31gk]

3 of the 15 home games in April will be day games: Opening Day, a Saturday (4:05), and a get-away day Wednesday on April 27th

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

I bought a Red Sox ticket package that had the dates and opponents listed but not the game times, so it wasn't until I got the tickets that I found out that the Sunday April 30th game was at 8 fucking PM. Not only liable to be cold and wet, but also a school night.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

within the first five weeks of the season, the Mets host the Braves 2x and the Marlins 2x. Seems like an odd quirk of the schedule. The Braves leave Citi Field on April 27, then don't come back again until Sep. 25.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

I kinda like Sunday night games from a watching at home perspective. though, 7:30 would be a better start time.

We'll see how much my sleep deprived self can manage this year though.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

The problem isn't the existence of Sunday night games, it's that the first seven seeks of the season put each one of them in the northeast or upper midwest* at a time of year when daytime weather is iffy and nighttime weather almost sure to be lousy.
And as much as I'd like to blame ESPN, the fault really lies with MLB for not putting any restraints on what the four-letter network can do with their schedule.

The home game on 5/29 was moved to 4 PM because of the Sunday Night game. Better but still not great.

Re: The 2017 MLB Schedule Thread

Here in December, just the fact the Mets announced the shift of start times, however undesirable or inconvenient they will prove themselves in practicality, was such a boost to morale. Major League Baseball games...Mets games will someday be played again. Hallebleepinglujah.
