IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

Edgy MD
Sep 29 2016 02:27 AM

The Mets get a day off to decompress and then head into Philadelphia with a darn good chance to tie something up. Robert Gsellman takes on Alec Asher.

You may remember Asher from his last turn in the rotation, given a 10-0 lead over Sean Gilmartin, but leaving after giving up four unearned runs in the fifth, the start of what was almost an historic comeback. Yeah, those runs were unearned, but the Mets started hitting it hard all over the park. Fear not Asher. He's got no trophies on display. He signs them away. I mean, what the heck?

Céspedes, meanwhile, just wants to get out on the floor and do the Cuban Slide.

Mets'll be @PHI on 9/30, unless the continued FLA designation is for luck.

BTW, FLA has been MIA for five seasons. Literally and figuratively.

Re: IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

According to GKR, they may cobble together an entire start on Friday using the bullpen. Which, of course, would be delightful. This was originally their plan for Saturday but since the game is a national broadcast, the Phillies don't want to embarrass themselves (beyond what they've already done to embarrass themselves in the standings this year, of course).

And despite some rumblings that Bartolo might get today's start, it still appears that the Mets are sticking with the original plan of starting Gsellman.

Re: IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

Asher was the guy who was on the mound for the only loss to the Phils in the last series, being the beneficiary of Gilmartin & Montero putting us in a 10-0 hole.
He held the Mets scoreless thru 4, then allowed 4 in the 5th and even though all were unearned that was it for him for the night.
NYM bats chipped away at the Philly pen after he departed and had the runners on base to tie it up but left seven on in the last three innings.

I think we owe him an ass-kicking.

Rivera has been handling pitchers and throwing out runners and has an OPS almost identical to D'Arnaud's. I still want to think D'Arnaud has a better career ahead of him, but there's no way he's been better than Rivera this year.

Agreed.
d'Arnaud has to drop two things. His little wrist cock with the bat as the pitch comes in and his little wrist cock right before the throws a ball.
d'arnaud's problem is he has a wrist cock.

Agreed. dArnaud is just a complete mess. no 2 atbats the same for him, and i think the palpable sense that a journeyman minor league catcher is the preferred reciever gets to him at some level. I wonder if Plaweckis good year in AAA hasn't jumped him.

We have an exciting opportunity this weekend with MLB on FOX. With our schedule including two extremely compelling games we don’t want our fans to miss any of the thrilling action. So for the first time ever, instead of airing just one MLB game you’ll be getting the best of BOTH!

This Saturday in non-home territory markets only FOX Sports will shift between both baseball games so that viewers can see key moments of each important contest. This concept, which we’ve dubbed “Whip Around,” will have the non-home territory markets start on the NYM @ PHL game and then shift to PIT @ STL at a pivotal moment. At some point, those same markets will go back to the NYM @ PHL game for a key situation. The shifting between the two games could occur multiple times. Please follow the previously provided formats, all local commercial breaks will air in their normal slots.

Wow, he's got 24 homers -- and is below the Mendoza line. That's got to be hard to do.

Just turned up the TV for an inning. Michael Jack brings squat to the Phils booth. Back to WOR.

And it's official, Sunday will most definitely NOT be our final game of the season!!
No guarantees beyond that, but that's enough for right now considering where we were six weeks ago.
Stayed tuned for more details later tonight and/or tomorrow afternoon.

Not bad for a season that started with a lifetime suspension, and for a while, only got worse from there.

Re: IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

So I was curious to see what was on FOX HD, one of a number of FOX channels
I get, at 4:00 and it's Kung Fu Panda 2. So it's understandable that they can't
put another game on instead of that. I assume college football is on some of the
others and everyone knows college football is more important than baseball.

Sorry, 1:00... that's when Turbo, the Snail is on.

You're looking at FXX.
The logical place to put a spare game would be Fox Sports 1 or FS2, but those are showing Baylor vs Iowa State football on '1' and Bundesliga (German) Soccer on '2'

But tomorrow will be a FOX network game, that's why there's no SNY telecast like there would be if they shunted this off to one of their satellite channels.
It also likely means that the two games they're carrying will be the ones that will NOT be available through MLB.tv even though all the games they do offer this weekend will be free even without an account.

And now it's 5-0 StL so both games will still mean something tomorrow.

Re: IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

I meant FOX has plenty of places to put the other game, like FX. And like I
said college football and German soccer is key! Doesn't affect me, just was
saying. There's a TBA game on MLBN, maybe they'll show the other game for
those who are getting the silly split/tv coverage?

Re: IGT 9/30/16 NYM@PHI Mystery Achievement

Those in the NYC area are going to get the Met game exclusively just as those in StL will get the other game.
It's for those not in the NYC or Philly, or Pitt or StL markets who are going to get the switching as the lords at FOX see fit.

I understand, was going more for the if FOX wanted to they could show
both games slant but it doesn't matter. The unfortunate have Howie.
