The Dodgers left 12 runners on base and were 1 for 9 with RISP. And frigging Murphy continues to hit (he also misplayed a ball but it didn't cost them, which is unfortunate). He thinks he's funny:
|
Frayed Knot Oct 10 2016 10:22 PM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |
[soapbox time again]It's 4-1 Nats after 4-1/2 and they're already more than two hours into a game that has a grand total of 7 hits and where the only pitching change was one made between innings so no extra time was taken up there.

During one of the games the booth mentioned that Dave Roberts had made over 600 pitching changes during the season( I think I am correct in that), I also think they said that was a record?...anyway , easy to see how it would be, he is constantly going to the pen , as mentioned above games are long ...awful to watch really

Ridiculously long. I love it. FK? ;) Kershaw spied talking to his pitching coach. I've been pulling my Rendons but he has set a new "post season" record for not hitting with RISP. OE: Oh, with runners on, anywhere. [tweet]https://twitter.com/kevinburkhardt/status/786774853051310080[/tweet]
|
Zvon Oct 14 2016 04:20 AM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |
Kershaw is coming in to close. I think he's the 60th pitcher used tonight.
|
Frayed Knot Oct 14 2016 04:21 AM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |

Just think how much better a game it would be if Kensley Jansen would throw pitches at a rate quicker than one per minute, or if pitching changes took about half as long.
|
Zvon Oct 14 2016 04:22 AM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |
No, it's still Janson! Kershaw is just biting his nails in the pen.
|
Frayed Knot Oct 14 2016 04:22 AM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |

Not yet he isn't. Probably for Harper though. Turner - Harper - Werth - Murphy due up.

He;s letting him face Harper. 3-0.

It had to end there otherwise there wouldn't have been anyone left to watch it.
|
Zvon Oct 14 2016 05:00 AM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |
I really like what Ive seen from Dave Roberts. Intellegent, can express himself clearly, takes unconventional chances, bucks the trends. We always talk about bringing in the closer in the most crucial inning, even if its the 6th or 7th, when he is needed most.

Don't give them any ideas. With 40-man rosters that game might still be going.

MFS62 Oct 14 2016 01:52 PM Re: IST - Nats v Dodgers |

I rooted for the meteor when they were playing on the left coast. But this was played too close to home. The pain the Nats have inflicted is more recent. If they both couldn't lose, this was the lesser of two evils and I still hat myself. I will ask for forgiveness next Yom Kippur. Go Cubs! Later

I was kind of rooting for the Dodgers here too, for the same reasons. And now I have to root for the Cubs, which sucks too. Thankfully, we can all just root for whoever comes out of the AL.

I think I wanted Washington to win, because I prefer Daniel Murphy to Chase Utley, for reasons that I can't quite put my finger on.

I was thinking along those lines too but I have to say I was thrilled to see Kershaw pop up Muffy last night with the series on the line. It was maybe the only time I've seen Muffy do less for the Nats than he did for the Mets in a similar situation (2 HRs off CK in last year's playoff)
