Rabbits Feet, Talismans, and Lucky Charms

Need some good energy tonight. I will be sitting on the lucky side of my couch tonight. That side worked great last October until Game 1 of the World Series. It took me two games to realize that I had to switch to the other side. Once the move was made, Game 3 was in the bag. This year, I know enough to sit on the lucky side until the WS, and immediately shift to the other side when that begins. Will be wearing my new (well, relatively new, got it last winter) Mets logo t-shirt, which is 4-1 on the year. We got this. I will also be getting drunk, which isn't so much lucky, but helps calm the nerves, win or lose.

Yesterday morning was chilly enough for Mrs. Fafif to wear a jacket she apparently hadn't worn since the night of June 15, at Citi Field, because when she stuck a hand in one of the pockets, she found the ticket from that evening's game, which the Mets won on the strength of Thor strikiing out 11. She handed me the ticket, which I am keeping on me for the duration.

I haven't shaved since my last trip to Citi Field, where they won 17-0, but that's more out of laziness than anything else. I'll be wearing my jersey/hoodie that I wore to Opening Day and has been in the back of my car waiting to go inside since then. I'm 1-2 in games where the Mets advance to the next round or are eliminated (1999 NLDS game 4, 2006 game 7, 2015 ws game 5) so due to even that up.

Baseball earrings, mets bracelet, blue star sapphire ring, Origami Owl necklace with New York themed charms, orange sneakers.

I start a full beard every October 1, so it's not really a playoff beard. The weird thing (relatively) that I do is eat Smarties candies during tense points in playoff games. This started back in 2000 and I typically nervously eat them piece by piece during the later innings. I don't eat Smarties at any other time in my life...but now, I don't watch a playoff game without them. I will also be wearing my Mets cap and jersey, which I rarely wear at other times unless attending games. I'm likely to be drinking some of the New Glarus Octoberfest beer as well.

Cespedes and Rene Rivera as said to have just gone blonde. If the Mets win the World Series, we all have to dye our hair blonde no?

I think, if the Mets win THIS GAME, we have to go blond. But it's "blond," man. "Blonde" is, like, feminine. Latvian chicks are blonde. American ballplayers are blond.

More hops, more malt.

I'm going to have my Amazon Echo play "Lazy Mary" during the 7th inning stretch. And while I'm driving home from work today, I'll play Meet the Mets on my phone, probably more than once, and I'll sing along joyously.
