Noah Syndergaard Appreciation Thread

I know it sucks, but that was an epic pitching matchup, and Syndergaard absolutely delivered on the big stage. He is shaping up to be legendary.

Getting to the post-season is tough, but if we can do it again with a healthy Syndergaard, we have good reason to be optimistic for many years.

Yeah, he's the real deal, and other than Granderson's running catch, his performance was really the only positive from last night's game.

I wonder what ever happened to all of the people who thought the Mets had "dumped R.A. Dickey" for a bunch of nobodies.

I love him - such a great presence backed up by so much talent. Just a wonderful guy to have on the team.

And for the record, while I loved R.A. Dickey, I was always comfortable with the trade. At his age I was wary about giving him the long-term deal that he wanted.

Were there all that many of those? Maybe there were but I don't recall too many.

btw, I noticed that R.A. isn't even slated to start any of the games in Texas's upcoming series w/Toronto.

I don't think there were many. Most people thought the Mets fleeced Toronto from day 1.

I thought for sure he was going to throw a no-hitter last night. He looked that dominant.

It might have been feedback I got from UMDB visitors. I think there were some people here who were opposed, but I guess I'm not really sure of that.

Thor rocks as much as a human can rock. He also pitches quite well.

My recollection of the Dickey trade, as we called it then, was it was generally bemoaned that R.A. was leaving us, yet simultaneously it was marveled that wow, we were getting quite a haul in return.

Thor was amazing last night , really could not have wished for more. I would have taken it going in .

Great stuff here, including seemingly non-trade related stuff, such as foreboding about Zach Wheeler's elbow, and an early assessment of Dan Murphy as a closet-dweller:

I did also. You could almost feel thor getting tired in the 7th.

Love the guy!

This thread was started when the Dickey trade was still in the rumor phase:

RA. Dickey Trade Rumors Deserve Their Own Thread

And this one was started when we knew the details of the trade. Nineteen people hoped it would happen, and seven wanted it to fall through.

The Dickey-to-Toronto trade

I was actually glad he gave up that first hit, because I hadn't moved in three innings and my legs were starting to cramp.

I really had to pee but couldn't decide which half inning was worth sacrificing.
