Werewolves of London
Sympathy for the Devil
People are Strange
Psycho Killer
Legend of Woolly Swamp
I put a spell on you
Don't Fear the Reaper
Bad Moon Rising
My Beloved Monster

That's pretty good list; I'd swap in Pet Semetary for People Are Strange
and The Munster's Theme Song for Sympathy For The Devil.

Re: halloween playlist

i was specifically excluding tv theme songs and movie musicals, sticking more to top 40 type stuff. If i were to go down that road, there'd be songs not only from the Munsters, but the Addams family, Twilight Zone, ROCKY HORROR, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, JEKYLL AND HYDE, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, as well as Joss Whedon's stuff (Buffy, Dr. Horrible), and on and on...

is PET SEMETARY a Ramones song?

Re: halloween playlist

That's pretty much it; would add "Tam Lin" by Fairport Convention and "Spooky" by Atlanta Rhythm Section, whom I always conflate with Little River Band. I might throw in "Mama Told Me Not to Come" if I were in the mood for it. And this:

I usually just blast "Fun House" from our top windows, featuring Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame siblings Ron and Scott Asheton.

Guarantees all but about 17 kids will give my house a pass.

Re: halloween playlist

Speaking of horror and music themes, saw an obit in the NY Times over the weekend for John Zacherle -- later billed as simply 'Zacherley' to take advantage of the cool one name thing and with the altered spelling so as to avoid mispronunciation problems.

He started as a ghoulish character/host for horror flicks being shown on television, first in the Philly market and then for several New York stations. He later moved to radio where his deep voice fit in well as a night-time DJ in the early days of FM rock stations including with the transformational WNEW-FM lineup from 1967-1971 despite being nearly 50 y/o at that point which would have made him around twice the age of some of his cohorts. He was heard in later years on both WPLJ (1971-1981) & 'K-Rock' (1992-1996).

And he wasn't above recording a little novelty spook song himself

He died last week at age 98

I'm glad you have Werewolves Of London in there.

I can't think of one atm because all I can think about is sharing this.
