Shameless self-promotion time. My new novel, A Legacy of One was just published (October 1, 2016) and is now available on amazon.com as a Kindle ebook (only $2.99) or as a paperback ($16.28). This is not a sports book, although there are a few Mets references along the way. It's a serious political drama that involves conservative ideology, religion, abortion, campaign finance, and the struggle of one man to decide what kind of politician and what kind of person he wants to be. It is always pleasing to an author when a reader has a strong reaction to or opinion about a character. Max is a complicated fellow, but at base he will do whatever is necessary to achieve his ends. If you tried to convict him of any criminal behavior, you'd have a hard time charging him with anything, and if you tried to ruin his reputation by writing a critical newspaper expose on him, he would have plausible rebuttals. So, in that regard he's brilliant. Whether is is "corrupt" or not depends on your view of the political system in which he operates. So, I'm glad, Cooby, that you have strong feelings. It makes me very happy.

I finished this last night. I really enjoyed this book. Lately I've been starting books by authors I have liked for years, only to return them to the library. DDad, this is one of the best books I've read in a while. There were plenty of characters I did not like, Max being one of them. Janice I hated for a while but I guess she had her reasons. (Still I'd like to slap her upside the head) Frank, of course, is a dear. Jonathan himself could be a little less lascivious. Women readers get tired of hearing how nicely stacked every female character is :D I hope you are writing a sequel! I would love to know more about the genius little boy (edited for possible spoiler) , what becomes of the evangelist, and whether Max's car door drops on his foot

Thanks for the kind words! Please feel free to post a review on Amazon.com for me (it would really help!). As for a sequel, it's clear that the story is not entirely over, although the book stands on its own and it's not a bad thing for the reader to speculate about what will happen after the end of the story. But, it's possible that a sequel may happen . . . but not really soon.
