Re: Try a Little Tender-less

That's Chris Carter getting non-tendered ... following a 41-homerun season.

Re: Try a Little Tender-less

Wellington Castillo's not worth a tender offer? Hell, decent defense and more-than-decent pop? He's a little more than a little like our erstwhile Throbbin' Rod Barajas, no?

Yeah, I think Sandy might look into buying his kids some new Welingtons this Christmas

(After looking at his numbers) I sure hope Sandy does.

And, FK, kudos on the thread title.

Vance Worley could be an option for the Mets, no?

Not sure what Welington (nickname gotta be "BEEF" right?) will ultimately land, but wonder if Sandy was like "ah, shit", holding Rivera's contract with the still-wet ink. Deep, 15-second Google research tells me that Beef's defense is, to quote the internet, "weak".

Imagine that 2-headed platoon monster with Duda.

Imagine that 2-headed platoon monster with Duda.

They would hit like 90 home runs.

Re: Try a Little Tender-less

Well, they'd be limited to more or less one of them playing at a time, but sure, why not.

I'm exaggerating, of course. 75 at most.

But maybe getting better?

Notably, Castillo has made strides with his defensive work this year, according to Baseball Prospectus’s catcher ratings (subscription required and recommended). He has typically graded as a solid blocker while registering good marks with his arm. And Castillo has also improved greatly as a pitch framer; once one of the game’s least-regarded framers, he now registers as average to slightly below-average (with StatCorner valuing him higher than does BP) at winning strikes for his pitchers.

I can't take a guy named Wellington seriously.

He's probably Wellington Ramsey Castillo IV.
