Freddy Garcia set Italy aflame--3.1 IP, 1 H, 7 K, 1 BB. Piazza's struck out 2 times. Former Met farmhand Lenny DiNardo got the nod for Italia and gave up 2 runs in 2.2 IP. 4 H, 2 BB & he K'ed 2. With 2 out in the bottom of the first, DiNardo walked Abreu, balked him to second, then gave up a single to Cabrera, scoring Abreu. Martinez followed with a single, but the ball hit Cabrera on the basepaths and he was called out. Crazy. Fonzie batting 2nd on the back of his strong performance last night. He's 0-1 with a walk.

Cabrera homered in the bottom of the fifth off of Kasey Olenberger. In the top of the sixth, Venezuela leads 4-0. Piazza up with 2 outs and Menechino at first via walk. Carlos Silva pitching.
