Roster Cuts

I just heard that the Mets have reassigned 10 players to their minor league camp. The only name mentioned was Philip Humber. Can someone post the other names here when available?
Thanks

Also- reassigning that many players before the WBC players return seems silly to me. Even without split squad games, the roster will be kinda thin for a while.

EDIT: here we go:

After his performance last Sunday( 8 ER in 1 IP), it doesn't surprise me that Jason Scobie is on the list.

Seems to a little speculation bouncing around that Bannister will make the rotation and Heilman return to the bullpen and, among other things, get lefties out.

I'd prefer to see Heilman get his shot at the rotation.

Bannister has been impressive. But, as the saying goes, "spring training is spring training."

I was under the impression that the spot was Heilman's to lose, and he hasn't done anything to lose it yet. That being said, I hope Bannister gets a fair chance to make the majors in a Mets uniform this year or next.

I'm sure Bannister will pitch for the Mets this year. My fearless prediction: He'll get 6 major league starts for the Mets in 2006.

A one-liner in today's Daily News noted that Victor Zambrano has been pitching in relief during the WBC, and has not had enough innings to have stretched his arm enough (number of pitches per appearance) to be a starter.
Of course, there's the baseball adage thatsays you don't need five strters early in the season. How does that stack up with the Mets' early season schedule? Can they go with four starters with VZ in the pen in April? Of couse, Pedro's readiness to start, or go long into games, will effect the rotation too.

Assuming 4 days off between starts, the Mets don't really need a 5th starter until 4/17, in the middle of their 15 straight games from 4/11 to 4/26.

They love giving Pedro extra rest. They will use the fifth starter for the fifth game of the season. Mark it down.

Hey, we need to do our "team leaders" predictions this year. When do we do that?

Good thinking. Doesn't LF usually set those up?

Venafro?

"Yeah?"

"You're cut."

Soler? Cut.

Anderson Garcia? You're cut.

Tim Lavigne? Yes, you're also cut.

Wow, I'm surprised by the Soler cut. So much for him being the favorite for the 5th starter position...

I'm not surprised. He needs to get work in.

I'm not so sure Soler ever was the favorite for #5.
Then throw in the fact that he hasn't had a particularly good Spring and, like the man said, he could use the steady work in Norfolk.

I think Heilman always had a better claim to that spot coming in anyway, plus Bannister's good March outings may have slipped him passed the big Cuban on the pecking order (ie; first one to be called in event of injury) at least for now.

I agree. I think Bannister is the sixth starter this year.

The only prediction I read that Soler would break camp as a Met came from his agent.

Still a better choice for Soler than Joe Cubas.
