Rodriguez is way ahead of where Jesse was at the same age -- J.O. had "only" 598 appearances by the end of his age 34 season compared to KRod's 920 -- the result both of starting younger (the score was 408 to 142 by age 26) and the present-day trend towards shorter outings/more often. Jesse as a NYM (age 22-29) was averaging around 55 games/year but also more than an inning and a half per outing (1.65) while in Frankie's early years he was closer to 70/season but barely over 1.1 innings per. Jesse's key, of course, was pitching until he was 72 y/o and the fact that his Games/Season actually went up (67.2 G/Yr from age 38 thru 42) as his innings/season went down and he morphed into his lefty specialist. Being more of a RH power-pitcher with a lot more early mileage on him it's tough to see Rodriguez slipping into a similar role and hanging around that long. Although being still not yet 35 he may not have to.
