Met Wishes for 2017

Dec 31 2016 08:01 PM

Post your Mets-related wish for 2017. Just one (I'm a stingy genie). It can't be "that the Mets win the World Series" or anything related to making the playoffs, record, winning a certain number of games/not losing a certain number of games, finishing first, making it to the Series, that there is a Mets parade, etc., et al. It has to be specific, such as:

That David Wright does not go on the DL all season (that's mine).

It can be personal, about you or your family.

Kapeesh? Do it! And best Met wishes to you for 2017.

Actually this is too much of an easy one.

As long as we're wishing for stuff, I'll take 'Juan Lagares wins the MVP'

Anything I wish for pales by comparison to that one.
But I'll try - Wilmer plays 150 games (mostly at third base) and wins the MVP.

+1 for bmfc1 and JCL's. I wouldn't even know what to expect out of David Wright if he appeared in > 145 games, but what a thing that would be.

I'm going to wish that no Met acts like an asshole in 2k17. Fulfillment of that would result in no arrests, no suspensions, no mistreated WAGs/significant others, nobody acting like a jagoff Papelbon. Honorable dudes, no assholes.

I think it's much more likely that Trump is assassinated than impeached, though the odds of either one happening are extremely slim. Now if Trump was a Democrat, the band of shameless hypocrites that is the GOP would probably have the articles of impeachment already prepared. And then just to make an even bigger spectacle of the whole thing, they'd probably serve those papers on Trump on national TV about two seconds after he's sworn in as President.

Re: Met Wishes for 2017

I'd like to see the Mets lock at least one of the stud starters into a longer-term deal. Nothing crazy, because we know that pitchers are fragile. But I don't want to hear talk about them trading them off because we can't afford them.

Also, is there a chance we can keep some of the nasty political rhetoric out of the baseball threads? There are at least two political threads in the non-baseball forum dedicated to this kind of stuff. It's starting to bleed over and I bet I'm not the only one who would like a respite. Am I the only one?

Thanks!

I'm with you - I was about to write a nasty response to one of them but i refrained as we already have that in politics threads. keep it there, or risk the baseball forum becoming unreadable.

I'll wish for d'Arnaud or Plawecki garnering some MVP votes and someone finally claiming that job for the long term.

I don't even talk politics online because it's just a waste of typing and I'm not a fan of typing. I'm also not a fan of banning anyone for their words or views whether I like what they say or not. So if you're banning, I'm with JCL.

I agree it shouldn't be conducted in this section but people are people and they will do what they do. It's not a crime that such a discussion took place in the baseball section. I ran a message board a few times. You cannot control people, only contain them. So move on, nothing to see here.

Except maybe those minty white walls if Batmags gets his wish. It will be 50 years. Oh my gosh. They gotta do something super special!

Re: Met Wishes for 2017

I doubt you get that wish Batmags but here's something, a small consolation wish, a pic that, as far as I can recall (which usually isn't much), I've yet to share. I hope this isn't a photo you shared already that I saved eons ago. I created a folder for all mintwall pics recently and while sorting I came across this one the other day. I remembered all the other ones I'm finding (like with Cleon, Goosen, and Rocky) but not this one. Hope it's new to you too. Happy Anniversary to the mintwhitetoothpasty colored walls!

Banning here is almost non-existent, calls for banning will fall on deaf
ears. Two individuals have been banned in like, what, fifteen years? One
historical, the other still posts here and has become a folk hero of sorts
despite having 2-3 monikers turned off.

Zvon wrote:

I really hope you (and others) don't view the under-administration of this
board as either controlling or containing posters. This is, and always has
been, the most willy-nilly-do-what-you-want little corner on the Mets' and
just-about-every-freakin'-thing-else place on the interweb.

Hopefully, no more dust ups in 2017.

"folk hero" isn't really an apt description.

Edit - there is a not-fully-updated thread here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=307

find someone who was responsible for every single "problem" up until 8 or 9 years ago, hasnt posted since, and had about 50 screen names. then project that person onto a current poster who "joined" since they left.

Re: Met Wishes for 2017

I was Cleonjones21 and Grote15 many years and yes behaved as a jackass by all accounts. I remember the other poster as Bretsabermetric.

I'd like to think the 9 year run and 13,000 posts as Ashie62 have gone better for me and hopefully the board.

I do like the folk hero tag though. My wife was a hero but surely not I.

LETS GO METS IN 17.

Lots of us here act like jackasses. I'm front and center.

It's a family. Families fight, act like assholes, and then bond together because whether we like it or not, we're all stuck with each other and in the end, we all want the same thing.

Plus, we make each other laugh and feel sane.

Of course not. And that's what makes us come back ... and laugh.
And that's a good thing.
