Yeah, I know. I'm no tree doctor, to be sure, but I would think that that amount of paint wouldn't kill the tree, but would be a minor irritant. Each year the outer bark of a tree becomes one of its inner rings, so I would think that even if left alone, the paint would become obscured by the next layer of bark within a year.
