While they've gone deeper at the top level the last two years, they're still pretty deep, perhaps impressively so, depending on what they've found in Wilk and Boscan, two guys who may (or may not) fit the profile of high-contact guys who struggle in Vegas but bloom in the bigs.

Assuming they can stay healthy, the starting pitching should be the least of the Mets concerns. I still wish that Bartolo Colon was still around for a reliable starter to eat innings.

He is, and with a little luck, he'll be climbing rapidly.

I'm curious as to whether Molina emerges from his time away as a reliever. It's a quicker route the big leagues and he's running out of time.

Running out of time? He's 22.

Do you think Thomas Szapucki starts off in Brooklyn or extended ST (injury rehab)?

I mean to suggest that he's running out of time before the Mets have commit. They were forced to add him to the roster this offseason despite him so far topping out with 40 ineffective innings in St. Lucie back in 2015. Now he's got three-ish seasons to find his way to the bigs and stick there before the Mets have to make a commitment, and he could end up getting pushed off the back end of the roster during one transaction pinch or another. If he's going to find his way to CitiField, where the rotation is looking pretty roadblocked, it may have to be as a reliever. Else, maybe the best he and the Mets can hope for is the fate of Logan Verrett and Gabriel Ynoa, sold below cost to an AL team to avoid the waiver wire. So, yeah, running out of time at 22, at least from a Metly perspective. That happens when you are signed at 16. Szacpucki probably finds his way to Columbia soon enough. Maybe out of camp, but maybe not. Right now, I think he's fourth guy below that list. But spring ends, there are injuries, releases, heartbreak, and Sizzle will hopefully move up. Smart money probably has him opening with Columbia, but we don't know which four guys will have to fall away to make that happen.
