IGT 4/10/17: NYM@PHA -- deGrom deMonday

Apr 10 2017 02:51 PM

The Mets head down the turnpike to take on the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phils join the Mets in a four-way tie for first at 3-3. (Atlanta's extra-inning win over the Mets in Game Two is their only win so far, so they remain alone in last at 1-5.) Jerad Eickhoff, a man who grew up with a name that either kills you or makes you stronger, defends for the Phils. Yes, it is spelled "Jerad."

Righthander Eickoff gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Reds his first time out. He's not a star, but he's really steady, and while he doesn't scream #1 starter! at you, he may have the best line of any of your rotation fixtures at the end of the year, like last year, when he went 11-14 with a 3.65 ERA.

Not particularly strong against lefties though. There's that. Maybe Neil Walker wakes up tonight.

Re: IGT 4/10/17: NYM@PHA -- deGrom deMonday

It seems to me that five-into-four is easy. Among left, center, right, and first, you have four positions to play five guys at, and each of them can play 80% of the time (more or less), achieving the status of "regular."

Of course, that would mean Wilmer Flores' first base-against-lefties at bats would have to be taken more at second and third. But Walker and Reyes are certainly not making that an unthinkable option.

Control wasn't there but 2 dunkers that better fielders would have caught and he's out in 20 pitches and scoreless. Up to Doodoo here to tie it back up

The Mets need to dominate these early season divisional games. This was/is a chance to get a jump on the Nats but being given away.

Reyes? lost. Does T.J. Rivera play 3b?

The cool part here is, if this score holds as is, Ramos gets the 'L' as Cabrera's run was the go-ahead.

Kruk (Phils booth) says that Ramos could not have picked a worst time to try and get even with Cabrera. He also thinks it was unwarranted.

Listening to Mackanin now (Phils manager) and he had no idea Ramos was going to do that. Then they ask him if Ramos did it intentionally and he responds, " I don't know. I'll ask him tomorrow."

Cripes. I don't see Mackanin lasting long.

Yeah, we know what cold Jay Bruce is like. But pretty much everybody else in the lineup looks lost these days. A little shakeup is needed, Terry. May I recommend TJ at third, Rivera behind the plate and Conforto in center?

Reyes worries me. He's swinging at balls that almost hit him, then watches pitches right down Broadway. I know he's happy to be back and all, but he's pressing.
