He had an amazing career, but sadly the first thing I think of is how his granddaughter was murdered by that maniac who shot Gabby Giffords.

One of the first times I realized that Gary Cohen was more than just a strong-voiced play-by-play man is was his commentary after Green's dismissal: "He was fired for the same reason he was hired."

Essentially, the Mets brought him in to be a hard ass and let him go for being a hard ass.
