Re: IGT 04/28 - Mets (time to rock) the Nats

Sammy rocks the prison pajamas look better than anyone...

NY Mets at Washington
When: 7:05 PM ET, Friday, April 28, 2017
Where: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia
By SportsDirect Inc.

The Washington Nationals are kicking off a six-game homestand on Friday against visiting New York but have to be a little disappointed to leave the road after going 9-1 on the trip, including a three-game sweep at the Mets last weekend. The Nationals pounded out 42 runs in the final three games at Coors Field in Colorado this week, including a 16-5 drubbing in Thursday's series finale.

Bryce Harper continued his prolific first month with a three-run homer on Thursday but it was shortstop Trea Turner who enjoyed the most success in the three wins over the Rockies. The 23-year-old went 10-for-17 with two home runs, 11 RBIs, nine runs scored, three doubles and a triple in the three wins to lift his batting average from .219 to .347 and is enjoying a six-game hitting streak that began last weekend at New York. While the Nationals (16-6) lead the majors in wins and runs scored (139), the Mets (8-13) sit last in the NL East and are averaging three runs during a six-game slide. New York will try to string some hits together on Friday against Washington ace Max Scherzer, who opposes fellow righty Jacob deGrom.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, MLB Network, SNY (New York), MASN2 (Washington)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Jacob deGrom (0-1, 2.55 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Max Scherzer (3-1, 1.95)

DeGrom struck out 10 but issued six walks and eight hits in a season-low 5 2/3 innings and could not get any support from his offense in a 3-1 loss to Washington on Saturday. The Stetson product struck out 13 and walked one over seven frames in his previous start, April 15 at Miami, but could not find his way into the win column. DeGrom is 2-3 with a 3.33 ERA in eight career starts against the Nationals while notching 55 strikeouts in 46 total innings.

Scherzer allowed a season-high three earned runs at New York on Sunday but struck out nine in eight innings and got plenty of support from his offense in a 6-3 win. The reigning Cy Young Award winner yielded a total of three earned runs in his first three starts and owns 33 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings. Scherzer had little trouble with the Mets in 2016, posting a 2-1 record with a 0.87 ERA in three starts.

WALK-OFFS:
1. Mets LF Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) left Thursday's game and could be placed on the 10-day DL.
2. Washington 2B Daniel Murphy is 8-for-16 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in the last three games.
3. New York RHP Noah Syndergaard (tired arm) was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday and will be evaluated again on Friday.

No doubt. I was going to post a Van Halen clip of this track, but the presence of EVH elevates the song from a 5 to a solid 8, and there's something about Sammy that makes me prefer him in his glorious mediocrity.

I want it on record, though, that I believe there is, in fact, more than one way to rock.

Re: IGT 04/28 - Mets (time to rock) the Nats

There's this historical belief, that I think is overstated, which holds that Ron Darling was a good pitcher, but anytime that Gooden and Fernandez or Gooden and Cone or Gooden and Viola or Cone and Viola or Gooden and Saberhagen or whoever weren't available, Darling could never step up and BE the #1 pitcher.

Like I said, I think it's been overstated, although Darling has said as much himself, but I'm kind of digging in a big way that deGrom is doing this with Syndergaard questionable and Harvey grinding and the Mets on the skids of late.

Stay gold, deGromowitz.

Is this MLB.TV?
What I suspect is that they've decided you're within the Nationals 'home' area and so you're blocked that way.

You should be able to find out which teams you're blocked for when you sign up for that service.
I figure for you it would just be the Braves but some areas "overlap" and you can get two or more on the no-go list. That both are division rivals for the Mets just makes it worse since that's 38 games right there.

My post overlapped with Chad's.
You can try complaining to MLB because unless the Nats channel -- MASN, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network -- is available in your area via your local cable company or whatever you're using, they shouldn't block

Try contacting MLB. The Orioles and Nats share the same network so your area may be on their 'list' as being covered by MASN because you once were.
But as long as it's not available and you are simply choosing not to pony up for Nats games, you shouldn't be blocked.
Zvon was talking about that the other day. He's in the Philly sphere but was also being blocked out of Pirates and Orioles games but got them to end that.

Ron, I don't give a damn about the closer's cahnfidence. I'd like to see the Mets win this ballgame.

I wasn't whistling past the graveyard there. I was at least 99% sure we were going to lose that game and was probably 50/50 at best when the inning started.

YUP!
You don't want to get pulled out of the game then don't give up three straight hits. Nice K of Turner though.

I don't care if my cats and my grand cats (all told, 17 or 20 depending) had to do it, this game was a MUST WIN!! Who!

2nd O-o-T-S interruption -- while we were busy [crossout:rysnda5d]celebrating[/crossout:rysnda5d] sweating out the Mets win, the Orioles were blowing a 9-1 6th inning lead in the Bronx, and eventually lost it 14-11 in the 10th.
Buck's crew is missing their closer Zach Britton (although that certainly isn't their only problem) but I really think this is punishment for Buck for not using Britton in last year's Wild Card game when he should have.

This was a good game and a had-to-have win...though, I also thought our goose was cooked in the ninth.

It was nice to see some signs of life on offense. I have big-time worries about Familia right now. WTF?

Well that was a shit ab from Cabrera

This was the AB that I thought of in the top of the 9th. Bases loaded, 0 out, the pitcher had just walked a run in, 1-0 count, my son says "he's got to take a strike". I said "yeah, but..." and then he hit into the DP. Pros think that they know when to swing but that was the time not to.

There were 4 kids, about 10, yelling their lungs out for WSH all night, about 3 rows behind me. As a mature adult, I ignored them but as I walked up the ramp I felt like yelling "IN YOUR FACE, PUNKS!"

Cute young lady near me wearing a Santana shirt with a bf in a Harper jersey. She was into the Mets, high-fiving other Mets fans. I felt like asking her why she was with that loser.

I saw a guy in a Marlon Byrd Mets tee.

I take back everything I've said about Edgin. Until next time.
