The Edge of Seventeen: Tyler Pill
Edgy MD Mar 31 2017 04:58 PM Tyler Pill |
Tyler is an organizational pitcher who has spent parts of the last four years at Binghamton, and will likely open the season with the newly re-named Rumble Ponies again this year. He threw five starts for Vegas last year, and is in a good position to get the first call should Vegas need a starter, but at 27, he's probably no better than even money to ever see a big league clubhouse, and certainly less likely to stick for long. His minor league numbers bring shame to nobody, but probably excite nobody neither: 38-29, 4.25 ERA, 462 strikeouts and 152 walks in 554 1/3 innings. That's a guy you want in your organization, if not starting for you on opening day. Expansion would probably help his career out a lot.

His brother Brett, a 1st baseman, had some time with the Giants a few years back but has been plying his trade in Korea since 2014

Brett Pill sounds like someone who should be testifying in front of a committee in Washington.

While Tyler Pill may have appeared for the Mets in Spring Training (I'm not sure of that alleged fact), he was never officially in camp, so we never had a thread for him. Get your Pill predictions in now.

1). Edgy that is astounding since at that time it seemed there was a thread for everyone except my cats' stuffed mice :)

Just a reminder before we get underway tonight: Pill's career line as a minor league batter now sits at .354 / .373 / .468 // .842 through 91 plate appearances.
