Going to PNC Tonight

Taking the kids to see the game in Pittsburgh. Have never been to PNC. Any suggestions on food/experiences you can't miss are appreciated.

Wish I wasn't so damn mad at the Mets.

Great park, I didn't realize till I got there how badly Fred & Jeff tried to rip it off with the "Shea Bridge" but there's no comparison. I think I just informed Hahn of this, there's a bunch of restaurants with outdoor seating on the PNC side of the river down toward the football stadium, easily walkable to the park. If you get good weather, nice place to convene pregame.

The Primati's french-fries-on-a-sandwich thing is IMO overrated. The fries are soft and oily and the whole thing is like mush.

the only sandwich fries belong on is a falafel in a pita!

There's a couple of restaurants outside the park too. We stayed right up the street last year and walked to every game.

Tried to go down riverside to wait for gates to open but they chased us all out. Roberto Clemente bridge is a cool place to hang out if you are not inside park (closed to traffic during games)

PNC is my favorite park, and I've been to all of them except for the new one in Atlanta.

Walk to the ballpark. Crossing over one of the bridges makes you feel like you're heading towards Baseball Island.

On Friday nights they have street parties outside the ballpark - music, discounted beers, etc. There's plenty of food to find in the area, and the place is tons of fun.

The fans in Pittsburgh are really nice. The last time I was there for a Mets game fans were specifically asking whether we were having a good time, whether everyone was treating us well, etc.

The park is beautiful, and the views are gorgeous. You will have a fantastic time (Mets performance notwithstanding).

I'm going on Sunday with my 13-yo. it will be our first trip too. Hopefully the weather holds up for us as it looks bad.

I hope you enjoy. We are going to try and do the Duquesne Incline(?) in the afternoon before the game. He saw it on line and thought it looked cool. Also on Monday before we come home we are thinking of going to the Forbes Field wall (a portion of which still stands at the University of Pittsburgh).

Our hope is to head to the ballpark early (Sunday is a night game); walk the bridge and soak up the atmosphere outside. We are still researching food options for once we get into the stadium.

Have a good time and let me know what you thought.

Totally agree. The one essential dining tip for PNC Park is to avoid the Primanti Brothers sandwich!

I did the whole Primanti's thing in Florida a few years ago. It was a total crapfest and, really, I'm not exaggerating, one of the worst things I ever ate in a very long time. I should've known, in retrospect. How the hell is that junk so goddamn popular? (Unless the Pittsburgh locations are superior).

If you have a car, Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Waters is about a 90 minute drive away.

PNC is every bit as beautiful as advertised. The bridge, the skyline, but the prettiest part of the ballpark was the ace for the visiting team going 8 and a third. What a great night.

Loved the park. Just a great baseball atmosphere.

Tyler Pill tossed a ball to Little Solo, we met Manny Sanguillen, and the rain held off. And the Mets won! Good times all around.
