... without getting SWEPT!

NY Mets at LA Dodgers
When: 10:10 PM ET, Thursday, June 22, 2017
Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
By Gracenote

The Los Angeles Dodgers moved into first place in the National League West on Wednesday and are playing like a team that could be there for a while. Los Angeles has won six straight contests and 12 of its last 13 heading into Thursday’s series finale against the visiting New York Mets, who have been outscored 30-8 while losing the first three games of the set.

Dodgers rookie Cody Bellinger opened the series with his fifth multi-homer effort in Monday’s 10-6 victory before Corey Seager recorded the second three-homer performance of his career in a 12-0 rout one day later. Yasmani Grandal joined in with two homers and Yasiel Puig added a three-run blast in Wednesday’s 8-2 win as the Dodgers improved to 37-14 over their last 50 contests and moved one-half game ahead of Colorado in the division. Puig’s antics following his homer drew the ire of the Mets, who have lost six of their last seven to fall a season-high nine games below .500. New York failed to turn its anger into much offense, however, with leadoff hitter Curtis Granderson providing the only spark with three hits - including a solo homer.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, SNY (New York), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets LH Steven Matz (1-1, 3.21 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-6, 4.35)

Matz made his second start of the season on Friday and allowed four runs over seven innings in a 7-2 loss to Washington. “There’s still stuff I need to get better at, little consistency with my fastball, curveball,” Matz told reporters. “Some consistency and making better misses. I’m missing in the fat part of the plate right now.” The 26-year-old is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two regular-season starts against the Dodgers.

Ryu is looking to record back-to-back victories for the first time this season after holding Cincinnati to two runs over five frames in a 10-2 win on Saturday. The 30-year-old has struggled this month, going 1-1 with a 5.63 ERA in three turns covering 16 innings. Jay Bruce is 3-for-6 with a home run against Ryu, who owns a 2-0 record and 1.80 ERA in three career starts against the Mets.

WALK-OFFS:
1. The Mets placed RHP Zack Wheeler on the 10-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis.
2. The Dodgers optioned Brock Stewart to Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled fellow RHP Brandon Morrow.
3. New York INF Wilmer Floreboom is batting .316 with four home runs and 17 RBIs over his last 41 games.

I feel like this is going to be a win. Just a hunch I have. Can't say what I'm basing that on.

I understand Duda stopping at third, but Reyes should've taken second.

Meantimes, Duda is one dead duckie.

Could they have analyzed the plate-blocking rule any more? The guy was out by a mile. Nobody was fouled. The catcher fields the ball where he fields it. He doesn't always have time to see if his feet are standing in the baseline.

Least controversial thing ever. No legislation required.

Except that they have called plays like as catcher's obstruction, even ones where the runner was another 10-15 feet further from home than Duda was when the ball arrived.

You probably can't blame Dodger fans considering the way this series has gone, but they sound like school kids attending their first game as soon as any LAD hit ball gets into the air.
The noise increases as if they assume each one is destined to be a HR, only to sound so disappointed when it turns out to be a pop out to deep SS.

That's what it was like watching a baseball game from Shea's upper deck. Shea was the highest stadium in baseball and I thought sitting there made the game unwatchable. I'm no seat snob but that upper deck is and was the only section in any stadium I've ever been to that I would avoid at any cost and measure.

They sound entitled, just like the fans of another team much closer to home.

Inevitably, 3 nights of watching these games caught up to me and I saw little past Grandy's homer.

Quick recap then:
- Matz held them to three hits over six, but both those hits were all in a row and all for XBs (HR - 2B - HR). Oh yeah and he walked five
- Seward was the first reliever and it was also his turn to serve up a HR on the first pitch he threw. He followed that with a walk and a single
- Next came the worst outing of Jerry Blevins' NYM career; he got Bellinger to FO as his first hitter and then walked the next three ... #2 in that sequence was reliever Pedro Baez in his 3rd ML
AB ... on four pitches ... with the bases loaded ... and two outs.
- Met pitchers walked nine on the night and gave up three more HRs
- Met batters went 1-8 w/RiSP and that one hit didn't even score a run
- The last best hope was when Conforto PH in bottom 8 with the bases loaded ... he fouled out on the first pitch

IOW, it was our best game all week.
But at least it was over in a tidy 3:33

This was the last entry when I went to sleep...I checked and the score was 3-3; hoping to wake up to good news :(
