Monty goes for the sweet sweep.

Re: IGT 7/2: Raph + Roll

Pivetta is sort of like Montero when he came up, in that his control has abandoned him at the big league level, and if you're willing to wait him out, his walk rates have been unconscionable.

With a DGaaNG and Conforto DL'd, I'm suspecting that they sit Céspedes and give Nimmo his first start of the year. If they do, the over-under on Brandon's walks total should be set at three.

Re: IGT 7/2: Raph + Roll

For what it's worth, WSH plays tonight in STL while the Mets have a day game so the Mets will be in DC before WSH even plays their game. And Scherzer is pitching tonight so the Mets won't see him this week.

Yes to Nimmo, but in place of Granderson, not Céspedes. #surprised

So much for the resurrection of Rafael Montero.

This first inning... it is not the finest first inning.

The second inning kinda sucked.

Would be better if we got a hit.

Rafael Montero starts are where winning streaks come to an end. In typical fashion, he quickly puts the Mets in the hole, by allowing the opposition to score early. Meanwhile, the Mets are being no hit by Nick Pivetta (1-4, 5.00). Sad, very sad.

Re: IGT 7/2: Raph + Roll

The broadcast focused in on Montero's grip, and showed an unusually long pinky nail on his pitching hand.

Is there a reason other than being a coke spoon for that?

Didn't Ronnie say something about cutting the baseball? Totally sick-ass cocaine pinky nail, though.

I think the occasional manager-ump fight is entertaining, sorta. But I'm not sure I've heard a dumber Yelling Old Man argument out of Howie and Josh than this replay-sucks-because-it-denies-the-manager-a-chance-to-blow-off-steam one... especially (but not only) after the lengthy and constant complaints about game length and wasted time.

Phils giving the Mets five outs in the ninth.

And they get nothing to show for it.

Looking back, Montero should have guided Rene Rivera to the passed ball.

Monty was either asleep or lazy brained.

Ronnie said that Montero could have run to the ball.

Re: IGT 7/2: Raph + Roll

Caught a good bit of this. Have to say I though Montero did really well to not let the 2nd inning destroy him, he then got his shit back together and pitched very well.
The annoying thing about the second inning was that there was about 4 or 5 moments that could have left him being less damaged.

Tis a pity the bullpen is so woeful past Reed, Blevins, Sewald and Edgin.
