What do you eat for lunch?

Centerfield

Trying to stay healthy. Lo Carb. During the week.

I try to eat salads. They suck. Taco Salads at Dos Toros are a bit better. There's a Korean Deli a few blocks away where I can get chicken and hot vegetables. This is a little better.

When I'm not being good, Sophie's Cuban with yellow rice. And man. The Peruvian cart. So good. Unreal.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

garbage.

I try to bring various leftovers and stuff, but struggling with cooking dinner as it is.

there's not quick and easy place near the office, and the office cafe sucks.

so too much taco bell, fast food, etc.

I'm not really a big fan of cold cuts either.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

The organs of my slain enemies. Raw.

Working from home helps. I've become a big fan of egg white omelets made with whatever I have in the fridge. Lately, that's been tomatoes and some pesto sauce made with the basil that grows like weeds in the rainy weather we've been having in NE Ohio. I put aside the egg yolks for gelato, which I mostly give away because eating it myself would defeat the purpose of having healthy egg white omelets for lunch.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I haven't eaten today, sometimes I go until dinner which I'm sure is not
particularly healthy but it just seems to happen. I have a graduation party
late afternoon so I'll more than make up for it for sure.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I'll usually have cereal and yogurt with some kind of fruit mixed in.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I eat a salad made at home by Wifey Bucket nearly every day.

Working with food and restaurant peeps there's usually a bunch of crap sent to the office and I eat that too. I'll eat almost anything.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

Today I had a cinnamon raisin bagel and a cup of yogurt. On days I work from home I sometimes have soup or make myself a tuna sandwich. Or have a bowl of cereal. On days I go to the office I sometimes get chicken nuggets from Wawa. I used to get salad and/or soup at a local supermarket but they removed their seating area last winter and I don't want to eat soup in my car and I don't want to eat at my desk where people will annoy me. So I stopped going there.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

That's interesting, that a supermarket removed in-store seating. What store was it? What is there where the seats used to be?

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

It was a Giant. I haven't been there since they replaced the seating area, but I think they put in an organic food section, if I remember correctly. It not only cost them my soup-and-salad business, but I'd sometimes pick up some non-perishable groceries while I was there.

Hero. Roast beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and a little horseradish sauce. Delicious.

This is PA right? The existence of the seats one of those workarounds to sell alcohol? (Which I think has been removed?)

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

That's possible. But I'm not sure what the rules are. My local Wegmans sells beer and also has a seating area.

My grocer (PA) just added a liquor/cafe area. Not a fan. Like we don't have enough to pressure to imbibe

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I've been eating on campus a lot lately. I really need to save the money and bring lunch, but the hassle of making lunches in the morning can be tedious.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I almost always pack a PBJ. But the downside of getting up at 5:30 is that I start getting hungry around 10:30 and eat the sandwich. Sometimes I get a little hungry and grab soup or hit the salad bar (though I get very little lettuce and lots of toppings.)

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I generally scrounge the refrigerator and eat left overs for lunch. Since it is only 2 miles from my home to office, I split time between eating at the office or getting away from work by eating at the house (which I prefer). A few times a month, I will meet up with my wife for lunch since her office is only a mile from mine.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

I've pretty much stopped eating dinner Monday-Thursday so often lunch is my main meal. I work part of the week in midtown and part of the week in the Village so there are always places to go either to eat in or to bring back to my desk. I have a few regular go-tos: the really good falafal stand, a good sandwich place, a Thai place, a Chinese place, the company cafeteria when I'm in midtown.

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

Lunch is like my breakfast, so... sometimes I lumberjack it, if I'm feeling sporty. Or leftovers-fried rice, with a raw egg cracked in there while it's still hot, if I'm feeling Japanese-y. Lots of repurposed leftovers, often doused with spicy stuff I can't slap on the made-for-family-consumption meals. Often, it's whatever I'm cooking for the wife and kid to eat for dinner later, while I'm at work (pasta bolognese, or mapo tofu with peas, eg.).

Re: What do you eat for lunch?

As a rule, a sandwich, and a side salad full of fresh veggies, and then something sweet at the end, some Teddy Grahams or a chewy chocolate chip granola bar. I go out for lunch once a week with my coworkers to eat pub fare. If the salad veggies have run out, I'll swap some baked chips for it instead. Or, instead of the sandwich, a frozen single serving pizza or leftovers.

People bothering me at my desk with work stuff, while I'm trying to eat and take a break, is also a pain I know.

I will have a little something - a piece of bread and butter or cheese or a piece of fruit. I have some stomach issues so it has generally worked for me. If I have a social occasion or a work dinner or am on vacation I do eat dinner on those days. Also we have a real dinner on the weekends.

Had a quart of hot and sour soup that I ordered last night but
didn't eat. Tofu is more filling that some might think.

I'd say that sensation might be more about the quart of liquid you've got in you than any tofu in it.

It's bigger on the inside. It's Tofu And Relative Dimension In Space

In the interest of science, tomorrow I'll wash down a serving of
pretzels with a quart of beer and see if I'm as satisfied.

Sometimes, if you look long enough into the curd, the curd begins to look into you.

Today I had celery! I made jambalaya on Sunday and had extra celery. I knew I was buying more celery than I'd need so I also bought some Greek yogurt spinach dip. So for lunch today I had celery and spinach dip.

It's 1:30 and I'm still alive! (The thing that's getting to me is the strong celery aftertaste. I've never eaten quite this much celery in one sitting. I feel like the entire world smells like celery.)

Got my doctor visit blood results this morning. Everything good, bad
cholesterol up a little since my last donation. Had two chili dogs for lunch.

I'm gonna kick tomorrow.
