Matz vs Ryu (LHP).

C'mon guys! Give my wife a birthday present.

I've emailed Stockholm but of course they never answer me. At least by
asking I've done my due diligence. I think you're good.

Just want to say one more time this season, Sunday night games sbhmc.
Gonna dvr ESPN Deportes probably.

Howie sounding really pissed about how long it's taking the game to start. Apparently some "network stooge" is holding up the game.

Re: 8/6 IGT L.A. vs Mets

Can this game be any more of a nightmare?

When the LAD hit it hard they get hits, when they hit it soft they get hits.
When Matz gets ahead he manages to allow walks anyway, when NYM batters get ahead they manage to K anyway.

And the only reason Matz lasted through 3 innings on his 70 pitches is that two of the nine outs he recorded came via baserunners, so instead of 15 pitches/inning that you'd like to see
he's taking 10 pitches per out. He's the only guy who can go from a scoreless 1st inning and the network in a commercial to barely surviving the frame when the most predictable set of
occurrences happened after the overturned SB call.

And replay reopening a scoreless inning, and it turns into a three run inning.

Re: 8/6 IGT L.A. vs Mets

Did Matz have any swing-and-misses tonight?
There were probably a few, but every strike he got in this game seemed to be either foul balls (a ton of those) or borderline strikes where the call went his way.

Now we know how the '86 Pirates felt (1-17 vs NYM) but even they didn't get out-scored by as bad a ratio (slightly more than 2-1 instead of nearly 4-1).

Howie and Gary were, at last check, a significant portion of the committee, so they'd have to step out of the room...not that the committee seems to exactly exist anymore. The rest of the gang was comprised of Jay Horwitz, Marty Noble, Al Jackson (who had a stroke last year), Dave Howard (who left the organization in 2013) and Tina Mannix (senior marketing director who, based on a look through recent media guides, hasn't been with the organization since maybe 2011).

Sure, but as far as I'm concerned, that clip I posted above should have just moved his induction up about two years.

MLB gets an insane amount of money to let ESPN unmake the schedule — money, that, a few accounts later, helps pay (among many other things) for Howie Rose's salary. Good on him for biting the hand, though. Josh Lewin doesn't have the juice to safely make that kind of statement.

"Network stooge" seems a little unfair. Just a guy doing his job. Lash out at the network, not the guy.

The Mets should let us take over the HOF selection.

Howie has semi-playfully used "network stooge" for years in this situation. I'm sure it's nothing personal, and I'm just as sure he'd maintain that stance to the network stooge's face.

Re: 8/6 IGT L.A. vs Mets

Man, besides being the subject of one of the two greatest American-produced sports films ever, the Bad News Bears only lost the championship lost by a hair, and it was only because the Yankees exhibited lousy sportsmanship like the real turds they were that denied the Bears glory. But the Bears being the Bears, they knew more joy and vindication as runners-up than the Yankees ever knew as champs.

Now that we know a little bit more about Atticus Finch, I think we can safely say that Tanner Boyle is the greatest fictional American hero of the 20th century.

I wish the Mets were the Bad News Bears.
