Lost track? That's OK, What we've got is a guy pitching to eight batters, recording five walks, two hit batsmen, and three wild pitches. A triple crown of insane wildness. The only two outs he got came on one pitch when the batter made the mistake of putting the ball in play.

He even left behind some bad juju on the ball, as his catcher allowed a stolen base and made two throwing errors, and the pitcher who succeeded him came in and immediately delivered a wild pitch and a walk. It's the sort of inning that gets a catcher winded.

I've got to hand it to the Mets. When they take on a project, they take on a project. Daniel Bard, you can be certain that I'm rooting for you. Mercy.

Re: Daniel Bard

The throw he made to 2nd to start the DP was apparently accurate ... so there's that.

That's the spirit. Build on the positives.

It's hard to imagine a worse inning of baseball.

That's like, legendarily bad. Almost the kind of thing you write epic poems or ballads about.

Or a Crane Pool Song Parody. "Wild Thing" or Bad is Bad" immediately come to mind as possibilities.

Or, y'know, the kind of things a poet or balladeer might write. Or, like, a troubadour. Or raconteur. Or minstrel.

Re: Daniel Bard

I actually erred in that report. Bard wasn't pitching for the St. Lucie Mets.

He was pitching for the GCL Mets.

No wonder I could't find it in a St. Lucie box score.
And I looked. I even went back a few games because the original post didn't include the date of the game.
Thanks.

Sorry, man.

Six tiers down from the bigs. About as low as the elevator can go.

Brilliant with the BoSox for a season about a decade ago. No amount of Tebow magic can resurrect that.
