Make the Mets Great Again

Assuming this belongs here instead of the politics thread, but move if necessary.

Isn't Bill Maher a minority owner, too? This will make for some interesting conversations in the owners' box.

Make the Mets great again? Trump's new comms director Anthony Scaramucci is a minority owner

Mooch, the Mets fan. Maybe he can sit with Chris Christie.

Donald Trump named a new White House communications director this week, replacing Sean Spicer with Anthony Scaramucci, a financier who is an alum of Goldman Sachs and the founder of SkyBridge Capital. Scaramucci had to disclose his assets to the Office of Government Ethics, and he has stakes in a variety of businesses.

According to a report in Politico, Scaramucci has assets worth $85 million and may be in hot water with his profits from a SkyBridge project. He's had a minority stake in the Mets since 2012, so that's not new news, but apparently that stake is worth $5 million.

Much like all of Trump's appointments, Scaramucci's has been somewhat controversial. Scaramucci, or "Mooch" as he's known to friends, is a longtime Wall Street power broker who is very much a part of the swamp Trump said he would drain. He's written three books on hedge funds and entrepreneurship.

The 53-year-old has long been a diehard Mets fan, having grown up on Long Island. He attended Port Washington High School, then headed up to Boston for undergrad at Tufts University and Harvard Law School.

Newsday said he bought into the Mets in 2012 as one of three investors who purchased a single 4 percent share, estimated at the time to be worth about $20 million. He was also in the group of buyers that purchased Mike Piazza's game-worn jersey from the September 21, 2001 game, the first baseball game following the 9/11 attacks.

He even got a Twitter shoutout from Piazza for saving it from a group of foreign buyers.

Scaramucci also once called Trump a "hack" on FOX News, amongst other things, but hey, it's all water under the bridge now.

The real question: Who will play him on Saturday Night Live?

It's hard, and it's not a contest, but he strikes me to have the potential to
be even a bigger asshole than His Excellency himself. Time will tell.

It says something that snots like him and Maher are the ones who roll in enough dough in this world to buy chunks of the Mets, and despite their ideological opposition, end up in bed together.

It's not a political statement to say that Anthony Scaramucci is totally f'n nuts. He behaves like a coke addict.

Coke guy? Hell, he seems like a guy who's probably ordered yayo from his dealer, then sent it back just as a "power move."

Re: Make the Mets Great Again

Now that we have a Mets owner with a relationship to Trump, do you think everyone stops blaming the Wilpons for everything?

Re: Make the Mets Great Again

Everything is Fred and Jeff's fault. Trump is the Wilpon's fault. So no.

The Wilpons told Clinton that she didn't need to campaign in Michigan and Wisconsin.
