IGT 8/20/2017: MIA@NYM -- Total Eclipse of the Fish

Jacob deGrom blocks out the Sunday afternoon home woes. Adam Conley shouldn't look directly at No. 48 without protective eyewear.

That does kinda look like what to expect next year,

with healthy starters and a legit bullpen. (Sandy, spend some saved money on the bullpen.)

How did I miss the Marlins signing Shane McGowan as a starting pitcher?

Both Miami runs have been produced by Gordon's wheels.

Hey, babyMets! Let's reward deGrom in the middle innings the way you rewarded your boy Montero yesterday.

Gordon's legs may be about to buy the Fish their third run.

Hey, Céspedes, the offseason starts in two months. We've got paying customers here.

6-1 halfway through seven... time to stretch. Watch youtube, it's better than
the dreck that's on SNY this afternoon. Cy Conley 2-hitter and like ten K's.

Hey, Yellich, it's centerfield. There's no side wall, and you don't have to slide.

Kyle Barraclough has done great in his career vs. the Mets, but he walks a lot of folks. Just keep it going, Mets.

Tying run at the plate. LGM, let's make up for all that shit playing you did earlier.

Dominic seems to have a bunch (relatively speaking) of quick -- three or four pitch -- almost 'no contest' strikeouts so far in his ML stint.

Yeah, he and Conforto were golfing at sliders and changes in the dirt all afternoon long.

I guess at this juncture, you want the lefties to get experience against lefties even in particularly over-matching situations, but it's not the sort of thing one wants to watch.

The goat of the day, though, was Rosario, with Smitty and Céspy riding shotgun.

Re: IGT 8/20/2017: MIA@NYM -- Total Eclipse of the Fish

It's not the errors, so much. It's that they were all mental, not mechanical.

That makes them frustrating. But it also means they're less likely-- in theory-- to pop up when games "matter." (Still, the kid probably should be read the riot act. By Reyes?)

Re: IGT 8/20/2017: MIA@NYM -- Total Eclipse of the Fish

The thing is that Gordon is probably the only guy in the league who is going to beat that out. It shouldn't be hard to keep a mental rolodex of one. Gordon is up, you cheat up a half step, you field the ball stepping forward, and you get rid of it with all the economy you can muster.
